Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
Elks run
For having hot dry weather moderate drought conditions the course was in excellent shape tee boxes were dried out but fairways and greens were excellent
Thanks for leaving us a review, we hope you'll book another round with us soon!
Not so Bad
Was kind of worried after seeing some of the bad recent reviews. Played here earlier this year and was in excellent shape and is still not bad for late in the year. Tee boxes are a little chewed up and greens would be better if lazy golfers would repair their ball marks. Only complaint is the pace of play, they have GPS on the cart that tell you are behind pace the ranges should be able to use this to speed up those slower groups
Hi RJ, thanks for leaving us a review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your time at Elks Run, and we hope you'll come see us again soon!
poor course conditions
tees are awful - grrens some OK, some bad - sand trap behind a par 3 had so much vegetation growing in it it should be filled in. They've just let the place go. weather has certainly had an effect, but I've played many other courses under the same weather conditions. $39 sounded like a good rate till we played it. should be a warning at checkin that conditions are far from ideal
We appreciate you leaving us a review. We're working hard to keep the course in top condition, and we hope you'll come give us another chance in the near future.

Horrible Conditions
Been playing Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a guys weekend in Cincinnati. Played today here at Elks Run. Was cart path only due to rain which in itself is bad at this course due to paths far from the “fairways”. I use that term lightly as the infestation of disease in the fairways was not only on every hole but everywhere throughout. Tee boxes were nonexistent. Every box was an issue. This was one of the city’s premier courses but not anymore. With a late morning tee time at the cost of $50, this was by far the worst condition AND the highest priced so far of the weekend. Driving range was even closed. I have no idea who the course manager is, they should be ashamed! This was embarrassing to take my guests to and will not be returning to this course anytime in the foreseeable future.
Elks Run round on 8/24
Overall good but greens not in the next condition and fairways damaged by excess water in some areas.

Great Fun & Layout
Several holes are fun. The front nine is a simple precursor to Norman’s master design for the back nine. It was a very fun round, but slow due to a couple reasons - cart-path only due to recent rain; some golfers could use more time on a less challenging layout.
I generally walk, but the green-to-tee on some holes (and hills) would make it tough. Glad I used a cart, even with cart-path only rule.
I will play again when in this area.

Sand abounds
Overall I love the layout of this course, many raised tees on the hillside and views to match. As many well known designers do they put too many large bunkers that are hard for a course to maintain on a daily basis without large amounts of extra capital. That said I still like playing here. There was a little bit of die off from fungus in a few fairways but we've had a ridiculously wet couple of years. Staff has done a bang up job on the greens and surrounds. solid 4 and 1/2 stars for me.
Thanks for leaving us a review, godesy! We're glad you enjoyed your time at Elks Run, and we hope you'll come see us again soon.
Great course!!
Risk reward is available on almost every hole, but the par 5s do make you play solid shots on approaches.
Very nice course. I’d go back and play again.

Disappointing
I look forward to playing here but this year it’s in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it. Most of the tee boxes are dirt, the greens aren’t very smooth, and the fairways could use more water. I would expect a course in this condition if the cost was <$45 a round. Spend the extra $10-15 and go play stonelick instead.

Not great for the value
Played this course on a Saturday morning. Paid $65 dollars and not a single bunker was raked. I asked the employee in the pro shop how the course was, he didn’t mention that. The starter didn’t mention that, they didn’t give a discount because of it. A course that has the potential to be that nice (and for that price), should rake the bunkers. I played 3 other courses this weekend and this was by far the worst condition - yet the most expensive.
It has a unique layout and some scenic holes-and I had played here in April, but the conditions were not much better than when it had been rainy and cold in -April.
Thanks for leaving us a review, we appreciate your honesty. We're sorry to hear the conditions didn't quite meet your expectations. We're working hard to keep the course in top shape, and we hope you'll book another round with us soon to see the results of all our hard work firsthand!
Great all around
Great course, friendly staff and the GPS in the golf carts puts it over the top. Favorite course in the Cincinnati area.
Thanks for the great review, we hope you'll book another round with us soon!

Nice track
First time here and enjoyed the round. Though there was a fivesome in front of us, the pace was OK - took us 4.5 hours. The layout is nice and there are multiple tee boxes, so good for different player levels. GPS on the carts is nice too, plus coolers, which was perfect for a hot summer day like today. Have a nice practice area with grass and putting areas. My only complaint is with the greens - they could be cut lower or at least rolled for the weekend. People need to repair ball marks, but this is pretty typical for public golf unfortunately.
We appreciate you taking time to leave us a review, and we hope to see you again soon!
Better
Played this course last year was not great. Much improved today. Heather was cut down, balls were findable. Cute little blonde at the bar counter was nice. I'll play again on a hot deal. Still not a course worth $45 or $50. Alot of chunks of mowin grass in fairway and sand traps weren't great. Also, white tees were paired with green. I cant stand paired tee boxes. One should be infront of the other not in the same place.
Thanks for the great review, we're glad you enjoyed your time at the course. Be sure to book another round with us soon!
