Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
Great set up
Fairways were firm and fast, while still having some green in them. Greens were true with a couple minor exceptions. Overall I had a lot of fun!!
Elk Run
This is a great course to play if you stay in the fairway. Which I don't
Everything was in good shape and I will be back
Enjoy the view as it sits at the base of a hill.
Great!
Have been playing here for years! Best I have seen this course in a long time. The greens and fairways are excellent!! The tees are pretty good as well. The only complaint I would have would be the BUNKERS. If your going to charge a premium for playing then you need to have everything in good shape. Anytime they get rain the bunkers get washed out.
Excellent Course
One of my favorite courses in Cincy. Great layout and great condition.
Picturesque
First time playing this course. Played in 3.5 hrs. Great layout. Little drive from downtown but well worth it. Great scenery from every hole. Staff is amazing. Give it a try.
One of the nicer courses in the area
Enjoyed our round. Perfect weather, nice course design and pace of play was just right.
Fun challenging layout, poor management of tee times
I loved the lay out and the conditions of the course. Only issue I had at all was having a 9:24am tee time and not being able to tee off until 10:05am. When I arrived 15 minutes early for my tee time there were about 20 golfers and 13-14 carts at the number one tee box. Not to mention, after waiting for 40 minutes to tee off then we were stuck behind the 20 golfers that were also sent off late. Front nine took 3 hours and had to leave after 14th hole because I had to pick my son up at 4pm. No where should take 6+ hours of golf. No pone call or notification that there would be a late start from the pro shop.
Pace of play issues
I played this course just yesterday... well, I tried to. Had a 9:03 tee time, but due to a frost delay didn’t tee off until 10:05. I can understand that, nothing the course can do about frost. Once groups were starting to tee off, we asked about going off the back, but they said that wasn’t allowed here. Ok, so we wait our turn to go off #1. We proceed to wait on every shot on every hole. At 1:00pm we walked off the 9th green and drove straight to our car. 3 hours for 9 holes on a Monday morning. Not a single ranger or anyone out there to keep things moving.
Great course off the beaten path!
Beautiful but challenging course! The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcomed! Had an 0800 tee time but no one was in front of us so we were allowed to tee off early. The course had picturesque views and were deceptive yet fun. Definitely would recommed this course to others and will love to play later in the year with the trees full of leaves.
Good but can be better
Fairways, Tee Box and Greens are in excellent condition but it is like they forgot about the bunkers. Most have weeds growing in them and doesn't look like they have been touched yet, pretty hard packed with old existing foot prints.
The driving range leaves a lot to be desired, patchy and needs to be mowed. A couple days work and the place would look and feel top notch like it should.
Great conditions after all the rain we’ve had lately. I understand that the staff wanted to remain cart path only. But they could have easily let people out on the course and that was disappointing because the fairways weren’t soggy or soft.
First time playing here
The course was in good shape for being this early in the season they seem to have a little erosions problem in the bunkers and around the Creeks but they're working on them. It's a nice layout some trouble but if you keep the ball fairly straight you'll be okay. Hope I can make it back in the summer when all the colors are in
Elks run early season
We had a 9:03 tee time. Our group arrived around 8:30am. The staff wouldn’t let anyone tee off until the frost was off of the green so we ended up sitting in the club house for nearly two hours. We finally tees off close to 11am. The tee time shouldn’t have been an option or the course should have informed golfers prior to booking as we had plans in the afternoon and ended up having to cancel them.
Beautiful day in early March and the course was in good shape. My buddies and I had a great time. This is one of my favorite courses to play in the metro area.
Great for this time of year
Greens OK for this time of year, rest of course in good shape for this time of year.
