Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
One of Cincinnati's Best!
This is a challenging course with some beautiful scenery! I'm fairly new to the area and had only played here once before. The only complaint I have isn't their fault - when players are fixing their ball marks on the greens, they are doing so improperly and digging up the center of the mark, which has made several greens a little rough. Aside from that, the rough is challenging, there's lots of fescue And the greens are lightning quick. If you keep it straight you can score here - good shots are usually rewarded. Great deals on golfnow make this one of the premier valued courses in greater Cincinnati!
Great course bunkers were the best around nice white sand
Great layout play a lot of courses this is by far one of the best
Fun for All
Finally got to play here with my dad. The course was in great shape. The only reason I marked down were for some ballmarks. Elks Run has a challenging layout for all tees/skillsets. My dad had all he wanted from the men's tees and I was able to play the tips to offset our differences in distance. The fairways were green and lush an the greens were receptive of approach shots. We cannot wait to go out again the next time he is in town.
Done w 18 in 7 Holes
staff and course were terrific but the pace of play was beyond acceptable. we had two threesomes in front of us and they had no where to go. at the end of 7 we were one hole behind the time card we were given. at the end of 8 holes we were two holes behind. there was no explanation or ranger to help. my son was leaving for college the next day and asked that we try and try to finish. we tried ten and then quite. you had too many people on the course and the 7 minute gap only works if you have low hanicappers.
Slowest course in City
Its very unfortunate that Elks jams so many groups onto this course. It's a great course but, it's hard with lots of trouble. So this is the problem. Due to difficulty they need to space the tee times better. It seems they should try to please the majority rather than jam so many players on the course and disappoint everyone just to make a little more money. Until I hear they fix this I will not go back! Very unfortunate cause it's a great track.
Slow play
Everything about Elk's Run was great, except pace of play. Our round was over 4'50", and we started at 424pm, so darkness prevailed on us. We never saw any club official or representative out checking people trying to speed up play. I think some effort should have been exerted to ensure rounds are not this long and this slow. There were
Players behind us whom did not finish. Other than pace of play, this is a great venue.
Starter
Dave, Mr. Matter of Fact. Let Dave check you in. Listen. The man enjoys his job, loves his course and appreciates all golfers. He shares the needed and necessary information Then he shares things to make your round easier. The whole place is very nice. The staff great, all doing a fine job. But know Dave is a great person to send you off. Listen up, it's all good
Where are the Rangers?
Pace of play was a big issue at Elks Run. Playing a 5+ hour round is not exactly fun. I did not see any rangers on the course telling groups to speed up their play.
Good course.
Good course great people. will come back again to play!
Solid Course in the Middle of Nowhere
This is a nice course and I would love to play it regularly if it wasn't 40 minutes away. I live in the center of the city and am close to everything. It is nice that the course is secluded but would be an unreasonable drive for anyone living on the west side.
Nice course
Fun and interesting course. The only problem is the other golfers don't repair ball marks and the greens were dinged up. We should all know to fix our marks!
Pretty good shape
Course was in good shape but no one fixes their ball marks on the greens. I fixed them all day
Smooth greens
The greens were rolling very smoothly the staff was friendly and helpful.
Beat The Rain
Course was in great shape and staff was friendly.
Other players were considerate and let us play thru when necessary.
Excellent Golf Day
Golf at Elks Run was excellent. This course is a little overpriced but the price I found on golf now made this course in my price range.
Golfing was great. Employee and staff were friendly. Greens are in great shape. Fairways were a little over watered and soft which made you keep the cart on the path all day besides that I was a excellent day for golf.
Beautiful course.
Considering the savage weather through the week, the course was in great shape. Par 3 tee boxes were rough, but it's only because there were quite a few people playing, and in wet conditions.
One of my favorite types of courses because hitting the long ball can save you some tough shots, but accuracy is crucial. Challenging course, and can't wait to play it again when it's more dry.
Awful Pace
Elks Run is a very good golf course, but the pace of play is awful. If you can handle a 5+ hour round go for it.
do not police slow play
Took 4.5 hours to play 13 holes thanks to two 5 some a in front of us. Absolute joke to allow that to happen. Walked off course after 13 or we may have played a 6+hours. Must police slow play but course was in nice shape
golf
Great course, lots of elevation changes. Some of the t boxes were a little beat up. Will definitely play again.
A well conditioned challenging course
A fun course to play. Back 9 especially has some difficult holes. A good challenge for all players.
