Good, buuuuuuuuuut,,,
Coyote Creek Golf Club’s Tournament Course is probably one of the better courses ive seen since I’ve been here in the San Jose area. The layout was great. The fairways were in great shape. The staff was great. BUT, the driving range was overrun, so those of us who paid to play the course could not even warm up! Then there was the golf cart management! There were no carts available, so we had to stand around waiting right up to our tee time! Golf cart management was bad. I saw non staff members just driving around the parking lot trying to charge people for rides. There were 3 people on one cart and I heard the staff talk about how there are a few dead on the course! I understand not being able to buy new carts, so buy extra batteries!!! Charge them so you can swap and go! Then the pace of play! We were not even able to get 9 in. The people in front of us sucked worse the me. Some just jaw jacking, others taking forever to look for a ball. Maybe only allow handicaps 12 to 15 or less on the tournament course! The guys paired with us we so bad, they never made it off the tee box on any hole. No one repaired ball marks on the greens so it ruined what looked like pretty good looking and fast greens! Well, I hope they read this. Some small changes and they get a 5 star from me!
Great Course
Always enjoy my time here. Course is always in great shape even though they’re currently having wild pig problems this summer. From the tee box to fairways to the greens, the course is always maintained great. Play can be slow on weekends as Muni golfers attempt to play this challenging track but Marshal’s do their best to ensure sub 5 four rounds. Nice bar service and really friendly staff.
Coyote Creek
Comfortable day at Coyote. Been a while since have played here. Driving range is in poor condition. Tee areas, as usual, are very chewed up. Course itself in good condition and had an enjoyable day. Besides the range conditions, the other point I would make is now that Valley 1 and Tournament 10 are next to each other, it can get pretty congested.
Slow play- could not finish 18
Coyote Creek Tournament Course is a beautifully laid out but mountainous course. Many of the holes have difficult to reach greens and some of them are not visible from the tee box. I was not happy with the pace of play. Our foursome did not have adequate time to finish 18 holes since we started around 4 p.m. and all carts were required back at the clubhouse by 6:45 p.m. I finished 10 holes.
Great day.
Course is in excellent shape except for the pitch marks on the greens! Fix them when you get there please. It’s amazing to me that so many golfers especially at these courses never fix pitch marks.
Pace of play was great today also.
Covid 19 play
All was good to excellent. My big concern and only complaint. The carts are not thoroughly cleaned and wiped down. I found a mostly smoked cigar Smashed down in one of my beverage cups where I placed my sunscreen. Very unsanitary for Covid guidelines.
Greens were beat up
For a Jack Nicklaus signature course I would expect immaculate conditions. Greens have a fungus and are absolutely beat up right now.
Fun Course
This golf club has it all. Two 18 hole courses, huge driving range, chipping, putting areas. Carts with Video. Par Girl delivering drinks on course. Challenging holes. Had a great time.
Poor Course Management and Spotty Greens
I last played this course a few years ago and really liked it. It was in great shape and would recommend it to people asking for places to play in the area. I just played this course the day after playing the sister Valley course and was very disappointed. I don’t understand how 5 hour rounds are possible when tee times are scheduled every 10 minutes. At every single hole there were two groups on the tee. On a few holes three groups. It took 4:50 min to play 17 holes and we weren’t able to finish 18 as it got too dark and we still would’ve needed to wait for another group to tee off on the hole in front of us. As far as the course conditions this used to be a championship (tournament) conditioned course. Now there are rough patches in some fairways but the real disappointment were some of the greens. Lots of divots and large scarring from old hole locations. At least one hole had terrible dead patches all over it and my putt was bouncing around all over them. Not what I would expect from this course. In its current condition I couldn’t recommend it. Combine that with its current pace of play and it’s one to be avoided for the time being. I hope they fix these issues as I do enjoy the layout and would like to return in the future. Just hard to believe 10 minute tee times result in 5 hour rounds on less than ideal conditions. The management of tee times needs to be improved. There are better courses for the same price and better values out there as well.
Why only 2 starts?
