Poppy Hills Golf Course
About
Located on the famed 17-mile-Drive, Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach was the first course in the United States to be owned and operated by an amateur golf association, the Northern California Golf Association. Originally opened in 1986 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.,Poppy Hills is a challenging, par-71 venue that weaves through the Del Monte Forest and has played host to several renowned tournaments, including the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991-2009. In 2014, it received an extensive, $10 million renovation by RTJ Jr. The project was first and foremost aimed to improve environmental responsibility, and cut water consumption by reducing the amount of irrigated turf -- about 60 acres -- while also extending the layout to over 7,000 yards. From a playability perspective, all the rough was removed and doglegs were softened. The course was awarded "Best Renovation" that year by all four major golf publications.

very good course to play
greens were bumpy, Couldn't find reason for the bumpy imprints in the greens (round divets like in clusters of 4, like heel imprints, but too large for the newer type of shoes)
some renovations started already, and detour shortening for one the holes is understandable as they get ready for major change in the Course in March.
Had a hard time answering your inquiry.....hard time moving the boxes on your course rating section....boxes stubborn and didn't seem to want to move and then those that did moved all the way over and couldn't control extent of moving the boxes along, etc frustrating
Tee Time at 230 great deal great day for golf
late fog came in on last few holes kinda rare but i still pars two of them
course was fun
Poppy Hills is challenging but fun. Its almost too hard. But once you get used to it , its a good test of a golfer. I dont think you should change the 11th hole to a shorter par 3. I like long par 3s.
Fast true greens
Traveled from Florida, found this course to be all that you would hope for. Helpful staff, good condition with fast true greens.
This is a must play course!!
Poppy Hills is in my mind a must play course in California. It rates with Harding Park, S.F. and Torrey Pines, S.D.. This course is challenging but fair on all levels. I really like to walk golf courses and did so at Poppy. It was fantastic. Rolling hills ... there are two times that it is a walk to the next tee, one of them is the 10th hole on the turn. Driving is a premium. Lots of canyon OB on almost every hole .... Had a blast playing it and can't wait to return.
Great Value thru GolfNow
Monterey Peninsula course can be very pricey, thru GolfNow we were able to procure a great value at Poppy. Course was in great condition, great grille and pro-shop. Used to be part of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am rotation, but has been replaced by Monterey Peninsula CC. Still a good track deserving of it's past pedigree. Will be going thru extensive renovations and will be closed for 14 months at the end on the year.
Great place to play and a great deal
"Not the best condition the course has ever been" according to the local I played with. It was still better than any courses I play back home. Apparently they are renovating it soon to get the Pro-Am back there. I will definitely play it again when they complete the changes. The one downside is the pace of play can be very slow.
great condition and open fairways are open
Staff excellent, grounds in great condition including the greens.
Beautiful course in great shape
Difficult course but in great condition, the views were beautiful with wild life all around. Staff was very friendly and pace of play was great, never had to wait for any long periods.
For the money it is the best course I play
Feels like a huge course. My Favorite course for the money.
xxxx
No real time management for play.We played behind a Group which was large - 6 foursomes. The man in the cart was not really a ranger ( more of an apologist) telling us that play might be slow. On the 10th hole we had 5 groups!!!!
