Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course
About
Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course is situated along the banks of the Sacramento River. The course has a diverse layout with a few tough holes, but overall it's player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. Accuracy and proper club selection are two major factors to scoring well on this golf course. This is especially true on the par-4 sixth, which has a large lake that makes cutting the corner a near impossibility. Too far left and you'll face a watery grave on this tough hole. That is not the only challenging water hole you'll face, though. Bartley Cavanaugh's 17th is the golf course's signature. Although this par 3 is seemingly mild at only 107 yards, it shouldn't be underestimated since it was modeled after the notorious island green hole at TPC Sawgrass.

Never fails to make me smile ☺
This is my go to course on a Monday or Tuesday now. Precise tee shots open up well manicured greens that even for this time of year are tricky to read. Greens are also receptive to high hit approach shots and backspin. The fairways are well maintained and the course seems to be well respected by patrons in regards to divots being replaced and pitch marks on the putting surface. There are some genuinely tactical holes that require thought and not just brute strength. All in all I like this course very much and can't wait to see how it develops this year.
This is a fairly easy course wgere you can improve your iron skill.
This course looks flat at first appearance but don't let it fool you because there are enough small hills on fairway, ponds, troublesome rough and deep sand bunkers to give you enough headache. The course is compact, so if you are not accurate driver, your drive can easily land in the wrong fairway. I lost more balls in the lakes here than other courses. All in all, it is a fun course. Golfnow does not give us enough chance to play here.
Great condition
Played Bartley on Saturday 1/24/15. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were smooth and fast. Got a lot of roll out of the fairways too. #17 is a cool island green. The only draw back is the course doesn't have a driving range but a net to warm up into. Definitely a great course to play. Added bonus was dinner at the Freeport Bar & Grill right next door. Way better than I expected. All in all a great day for golf and dinner.
bartley is a steal
25 bucks on golf now and I couldn't be more happy with the round. The course is good shape and the greens have just been hit with fertilizer so there rolling true. Not a very long course so you definitely can go low
No Cart Included
This is a good course and worth the price most of the time. Booked thru golfnow sounded like a good price with cart included. I should of known better. Didn't have a push cart and left my backpack straps at home carried my bag for 18 holes by the handle sucked
Awesome course!!!!!
The course is beautiful. The maintenance crew does a great job. Water on 6holes but very playable for any skill level. Would be a great place to have a wedding
Slow Slow Slow - with no prior warning
Booked a twighlight time on Sunday. Although I did not expect to finish 18 holes with 2.5 hrs of sunlight, I anticipated playing at least 12-14 holes. WRONG!!!! When I arrived at the course I was shocked to find out that my tee time would be following the last group of a Kids USA Golf Tourney. Tee'd off 25 minutes late and the pace of play was 25 min/hole (completed 6 holes). I'm all for the kids but the course should have warned me prior to booking. I would have spent my money elsewhere.
bartley review
Fun course in you stay in the middle, anywhere else can be a challange
Day off at Bartley
Another good round at Bartley. The pace was just right , the staff was friendly and the greens were in very good condition. I will be back.
simply stunning
An outstanding course with testing but playable water..... Fabulous staff and great facility
good course
For the money the course is well worth it, the staff is friendly and very accommodating. On this particular day we played behind a very slow four sum, but generally pace of play is very good.. I will definitely play this course again and would recommend it to anyone who was interested in playing it.
The course is in great shape
I was surprised at how well all of the fairways had been maintained. Every shot from the fairway was sweet. The greens were in excellent shape as well. I'm surprised that my game wasn't better. Had a great time anyway. Congrats to the crew at Bartley.
any round is fun
The overall day was great. I enjoy this course because it is challenging. I placed three stars because the course had some heavily watered areas that had some flooding. Also, some greens had dry spots that were filled in with dirt. I imagine this is due to our droughting issues. I could not rate food or drinks because I did not purchase any. The only real complaint i have is the amount of geese on the course. This course is fun and I would suggest it to any of my friends to play it.
Great golf
Fairways lined with grass hills & bunkers, hit it straight if you have trouble with side hill lies.
Goose Pooped
100 degree+ day but course provides plenty of cold water even @ 3 pm. Canadian geese have landed, so watch for "mines" on 8,9 and 18. Very enjoyable round.
Very well maintained
Awesome round 2 hours 45 mins and I shot one of my best rounds!
Fun course
This is a fun course to play, but holes are short if you are a good player you just need, Driver, 3w,sw, 6iron and putter to play this course greens are in good condition and easy to read.
No mention of league play?
4th time on this course. Nice fairway challenges such as undulations, some trees and water. A few more traps would make it more interesting but I consider this course quite scenic for a muni course. The layout is link style but there doesn't seem to be a big problem with golfers playing each others' fairways which is usually the case with this style course. Water buckets are positioned periodically and there's a latrine strategically placed for players on holes 7 and 14. The first 3 times out I felt the course was well managed with a starter on the first hole coordinating play. However, I saw a marshall only once on the course. There are signs and reminders regarding pace of play and etiquette everywhere. On this day, there were 2 groups of golfers that started @ 4:30 pm to play 9 holes that were slotted to start on #10 in front of us. We waited @ 20 minutes for these guys before we could get in the box. The pro-shop informed us they had league play prioritizing the front 9. This lowered my opinion of the management team. Nobody likes to get on a roll on the front 9 and then have to wait an inordinant amount of time on number 10. They should post this information to warn would be players. Where's managements etiquette?
Drive it straight
First time playing course with are regular foursome and we all found it fun and challenging from the tee box. Hole 17 might be the most fun and difficult hole we ever played. We played 18 right on the 4 hour mark , can't wait to go back.
Great Variety
Greens were fast but fair. Course was in great shape. Nice variety of holes.
