About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Great little course. Staff was welcoming and very nice.
Loved the course and the people running it. Very friendly and patient.

The course was only average. Unfortunately, I had to wait a long time for each hole, so I gave up after 9 holes in frustration.
Slow Play
We were a twosome set to play 18 holes but quit after 9. The course was busy but groups seemed to be moving unlike the threesome ahead of us. They were so slow. The older gentleman was hitting from the white tees & rarely made it past the red tees. They waited until the group ahead was on the green to hit their tee shots! There was a hole or more at times open but no ranger came out to move them along. We quit after almost 3 hours for 9 holes!
We've played River Run before and our experiences have all been good prior to this time. Course is in decent shape, greens fast but a bit beat up on certain holes. We will play it again but maybe earlier in the day.
Enjoyable round
The course is in pretty decent shape for not having any rain. The greens are pretty fast which, if you’ve played this course makes it tough putting on some of the undulating greens. So many trees down from the hurricanes, just not the ones you hit into!! An agonizing pace of play is the only negative. Don’t expect a ranger to get things moving. Otherwise, good condition, good layout and good value.
Course In Excellent Condition (Especially The Greens)
Played mid-week, mid-day round as a threesome. Never held up or pushed, we finished in four hours. Greens and sand traps in excellent condition. Fairways and rough in “OK” shape. Staff members Lee (inside/register), Phil (carts) & Brett (starter) went “above & beyond” to help make our round a pleasant experience. Recommend this course and look forward to returning to River Run in the near future.
