About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Sandy greens
Greens were heavily sanded. Almost needed a rake on some jokes. No advance notice at check-in.
They had just sanded the greens mosquitoes were absolutely horrible.

Great Hidden Gem
My Son and I played here for a pre Fathers day outing. Love the layout and the challenges. Shout out to the starter. A fun guy to talk to and very informative on the course since it was out first time. We will travel the hour and 10 minute to play again .

Played the course on a very hot day , fairways were in great shape , only a couple of greens had distressed surface.

Good Value
Course was pretty rough in certain spots. There was a few times where the fairway was questionable and greens were pretty rough. Value wise it’s what you pay for. Staff is very friendly. Not much of a breeze and not many trees so it can get very hot. Would consider again at right price but not an everyday course

Other than the greens being aerated it was fun to golf. We will go back

Great public course
Nice variety of wide and narrow fairways, water and trees.

Not Real Busy For A Monday
Nice pace of play with no one in front of us or behind pushing us.
Fairways were just ok and greens were terrible with weeds, very thin grass wise and substantial bare spots. Greens were heavily sanded in an attempt to even them out.
Impossible to put on, pick up & add 2 strokes.

Greens????
Just been getting into golf for about a year play this course often last year this time the course was in such bad shape but as the year went along I noticed a huge improvement in the course conditions but as of lately they have started to drop down the greens if you can call them that are in really rough shape

Great for the Money - Gainesville needs more Golf Courses!!!!
I was thoroughly disappointed with the selection of golf courses in Gainesville Florida. For being a college and populated town in Florida you would think the options would be more than 2. I live in Tallahassee and the options are endless compared to Gainesville. Another victory for the Seminoles 😉 With that being said for the money you can't beat Ironwood. I paid 25 bucks to play 18 and the course was in pretty good condition for the fact of their being a huge storm the past week before. Greens could use a little work but can't complain much for 25 bucks. Also I noticed they packed the course. I played by myself and it took me almost 4 hours to finish. Gainesville needs more golf courses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
