About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Good everyday course
I always enjoy the course it does have issues with water drainage but not much it can do about that. A fun course to play and good challenge for every level of player.

Great pace of play. Greens are in good shape but could be great with out the chickweed. Staff inside and out are great.

Game Changer At Ironwood
This course is completely different. It’s so nice to see the greens full of grass, and actually cut and rolled properly. The change from a year ago is night and day! The greens have consistency to them and actually roll out, which is nice! I will be coming back out to play soon!

One of the best courses in Gainesville for the price
Ironwood is one of the best courses in Gainesville for the price. Keep in mind that we’ve lost three courses over the past few years , well at least two recently. The weather was great around 70°, the course condition is pretty decent obviously it’s not the best, but you’re not paying a high end price either. I find it to be pretty challenging,
and at least it does have some par fives and fours, one of the other courses in the area is getting better, but doesn’t have very many above par three. They offer food and bar as well as a beverage cart girl that goes around the course. Overall I really like Ironwood.

greens were somewhat sandy from previous days maintenance
Very few people hence pace of play was great. the ground had been maintained earlier in the week when I played but didn't learn of this until I turned up and 9 holes closed.,!
Greens were suffering from the maintenance. pace was just right
only met 2 staff one took booking the other check tee time so unable to comment on them ref friendliness and didn't use off course amenities

Complete 180
The course has taken a complete 180 degree turn since the new superintendent Kyle and staff have taken over. Greens we're basically unputtable 6 months ago. They are close to, if not the best greens in gville right now for a public course. You finally get a true roll. The speed of the greens are amazing compared to 6 months ago. The grounds crew has done an exceptional job with this course. Would def recommend playing here. Def worth the money. Keep up the great work.

Wonderful Municipal Course
Ironwood is an excellent course for the money. It is well run by the city of Gainesville. The course was in very good condition including the greens. Course staff was very friendly and accommodating. It’s a gem in Gainesville.
