About
Ironwood Golf Club has the distinction of being named one of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." Owned by the city of Gainesville, this popular course hosts more than 50 tournaments year. The course winds through a scenic landscape covered with century-old pines and sparkling lakes. Don't be surprised if you're joined by the wildlife that calls the course home, which includes deer and wild turkeys. The layout will keep you guessing with interesting twists and turns. The elevated greens have dramatic drops from front to back, making them a challenge to read. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout Ironwood Golf Club, as well as thick rough along the fairways. The obstacles combined with some tricky doglegs will make you think twice about swinging the driver too freely. Strategy, not strength, is the key to doing well on this course.

Greens????
Just been getting into golf for about a year play this course often last year this time the course was in such bad shape but as the year went along I noticed a huge improvement in the course conditions but as of lately they have started to drop down the greens if you can call them that are in really rough shape
Great for the Money - Gainesville needs more Golf Courses!!!!
I was thoroughly disappointed with the selection of golf courses in Gainesville Florida. For being a college and populated town in Florida you would think the options would be more than 2. I live in Tallahassee and the options are endless compared to Gainesville. Another victory for the Seminoles 😉 With that being said for the money you can't beat Ironwood. I paid 25 bucks to play 18 and the course was in pretty good condition for the fact of their being a huge storm the past week before. Greens could use a little work but can't complain much for 25 bucks. Also I noticed they packed the course. I played by myself and it took me almost 4 hours to finish. Gainesville needs more golf courses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible Conditions
Staff was very nice and good pace of play. Golf course condition is horrible. Most tee box are under repair, greens have none to little grass and fairways have more sand then grass. Really don’t see a renovation here. Needs to be redone really bad. This course is the worst condition course I have ever played. Very disappointed in the experience. Drove an hour to play this goat ranch and that’s being nice. I can see why they have many tee times and the price is cheap. You get what you pay for is the lesson learned here. I will never play this course ever again.

For a city course this track needs some attention
The greens are terrible , there is some grass growing in the fairways . The restroom on the 15th hole was a disaster , someone needs to keep on top of these amenities .

This course needs some help
Greens are rough with crabgrass and sandy bare spots. Some tee boxes are pretty bare as well. Nobody enforcing pace of play. This is a municipal course and one would expect that the city would have enough money to hire a good greenskeeper. Basically, it's the only game in town for most of us so we have to put up with it. This course could be so much better.

Nice layout!
Layout is nice, the nature around is beautiful so it helps to forget that the greens and the TeeOff needs more love. We were only 2 and it take 3hrs to play.

Course seemed in good shape.they didn’t seem to be pairing up foursomes which is good..my only issue is the restroom on the back nine of course.there was a ranger at that spot and as we approached he left.restroom was a unisex facility.upon entering you are engulfed by flys or bugs.there was excrement on wall around toilet as well as toilet.I worked in mfg for 44 years and not seen anything like this.I let the he proshop know when we completed round

Good everyday course
I always enjoy the course it does have issues with water drainage but not much it can do about that. A fun course to play and good challenge for every level of player.
