Great value!
Course was in great condition. It has the best sand (Augusta National white) in its bunkers of any NVa public golf course. The greens were in good condition, medium speed, held the shots, and had many challenging breaks, which I like. I paid $23.00 on a GolfNow special, which included the cart. It's hard to find a 9 hole walking rate at other NVa courses at that price. It was the best experience I've had at a NVa public course, in a long time. If you haven't played PW, I hightly recommend it. My only complaint was no holes in the practice putting, only portable posts.
This course will improve
Course greens had been aerated and sanded. No prior notification. Golf cart passenger arm rest was broken. Someone thought using electrical tape would secure it. It didn’t work. Every time I got into the cart, the tape gave way causing scrapes to the underside of my right forearm and causing me to lose my balance getting on board. I’ll give it 2-3 months before returning.
Don't waste your money
The overall condition of the course wasn't too bad for late March but the greens are faster than concrete and about as hard. Almost 6 hours to play a relatively short par 70 course. The tee times are stacked 10 minutes apart, which wouldn't be bad if the Marshalls did their jobs. Also if you're going to allow people to walk the course the tee times should be spaced more. We waited 10 minutes or more past our tee time because the group in front of us had 3 people in carts and 2 walking. The group in front of them must've been two groups that decided to play together because there were 7 in the group! Marshall was out all day and never broke them up. There was a family of 6, 2 parents and 4 kids. The kids were throwing a ball around the course in between shots. Horrible time management. I'm a 30 handicap so if the pace is too slow for me that's bad. No ball washers, no bathrooms on the course, no signage on holes or directions on cart paths. Trash everywhere on the course. We saw the Marshall drive by discarded chip bags and beer cans multiple times. We picked up what we could as we played. People leaving cigarette butts on the greens and in bunkers. I will never play here again.
