Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Golfer Reviews
Great day on the course
This was one of my best golf experiences year to date. The course conditions and layout are always great here. The best part of the day was the starter on his own asking a foursome who was to tee off before us, as we were a twosome, if they would allow us to tee off ahead of them. They readily agreed. He obviously knew there was a gap open ahead of the foursome. We did and played the first nine in one hour and 15 minutes. We caught a foursome with three holes left but still finished 18 in three hours and ten minutes. It was a pleasure to play such a great course without having to wait on groups ahead. This was golf the way it should be. Greatly appreciated the starter taking the initiative to make our day a great one.
Bunkers are a night mare
I did enjoy playing this course however it has some of the most challenging sand traps. My advice is if you can stay out of them. Other wise this is a very well kept course. Great fairways and greens in the dessert
very green grass. And friendly staff.
Outstanding track!
This was a great track with excellent conditions. Beautiful greens and fairways. Layout was outstanding. Got a great deal on golfnow Front 9 was a little slow but we whipped through back 9. Best course I have played in Phoenix area to date.
Amongst Arizona's Best
It's a given that Arizona golf is super overpriced in March, but this course was good enough that I didn't feel as bad about paying $100 plus. Really fun course to try and manage, not hard to find your ball if you whack one in the desert and need to play back to the fairway. Fast greens, great pace, can't complain. Nice work Sir Nick!
Great Course Always
Great course, excellent condition, staff inside great. Cart girl needs and attitude change. If you don't like your job get another. Wildfire always a good choice, don't let the cart girl comment discourage you.
Great Time
We found a Hot Deal on Golf Now that morning and managed to get 18 in just ahead of the upcoming LPGA tournament. We watched the pros putting and on the range then played the front nine on Faldo and Palmer. We managed to get in in just under 4 hours which was a great pace. Course was in great shape and the greens were very quick which made for some challenging puts. Lots of sand so bring your favourite SW. Cheers
One of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I have experienced in over 25 years of playing the game. My wife and I were as if we were members. The course was in excellent condition. Great design (Faldo) pace of play was great. Wonderful
Great experience
From the moment you arrive at the bag drop the staff are awesome, the course is in great shape with lots of bunkers to work around. Have to think you way through the course.
Bring you sand play
Course was in excellent condition, but not sure it was worth the extra $$ over similar courses in the Phoenix Area. Lots of sand traps on the Faldo course, sometimes in the middle of the fairway area. Deep bunkers around the green, so errant shots will definitely cost you a stroke (or more). Clubhouse closed before sunset which was a little annoying since I wanted to pick up some things following my round.
Nice Experience
Pace of play was good, course was in good shape, other than a few deadspota on some of the greens. Would not pay $150 plus to play this course. $100 more in line with other courses of this caliber.
Nice resort course
Traveling in Scottsdale and played on a whim. Layout made you think. Fun course!
Awful organization
This course books big groups one on top of another. So if you like 6 hour rounds, this is your course. They just want your money and don't care one bit about pace of play. Avoid this course
Perfect
Full course but played 18 in 4h15m. Awesome staff. Great food and beer selection in bar. Great price for a really good course. Literally a perfect afternoon!
