Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Great course but sandtraps brutal for amateurs
Need to work on my sand game...way to many strokes lost trying to get out of the sand.
Great deal to play at Faldo Course
Played at faldo Course late afternoon in 3 hrs and weather was mid 90s with cool breeze. Course is in very good condition. Back nine is challenging and requires good course Mgmt strategy. Overall, great course and friendly staff.
Wildfire Well Worth It
The golf course was is in prime shape for the summers in Phoenix. From tee to green it's in really good shape for summer play. Greens hold great and putts roll very well. Well worth the money compared to other tracks in the valley so you won't be disappointed. Gal in the shop had a hard time checking us in she might of been new but seemed confused about the Marriott gift card being used.
Amazing Golf Experience!
Off season extremely hot but incredible golf experience. Starts at the parking lot with clubs unloaded and on your cart with your name on it ready to go. Driving range right there with balls. Ice water on many holes and a refreshing cold towel at the turn to keep comfortable. The course was in amazing condition and played tough but fair. Play the right tees to enjoy your round.
Challenging course
Interesting and challenging layout.Very good facilities and helpful staff.
Challenging but in great shape
First time here at Wildfire. Played Faldo. Challenging, lots of sand. But very fun. Great condition considering our oven-like weather this time of year. Would play again for sure.
GREAT Course!!!!
Wildfire (Faldo and Palmer) are GREAT course and always is pristine condition. The greens keeper, Todd Norton is the BEST!!! What a privilege to play at Wildfire!

First time here!
First time playing the Faldo course. Lots of sand and lots of thinking about where to play the tee shot. Course was in good condition, but the greens were slow. The greens rolled true, but could have used a bit of speeding up. Loved the layout, it is a thinking mans course...one needs to plan the tee ball and go from there. Had a good time, even with the slow play.
Disappointed
This is a beautiful course, we were very disappointed the club house did not tell us when we called that the greens had recently been airrated. Enjoyed our day till you got to the green.
I would recommend you play this course, just check when the airrate the greens!
Disappointing course experience
Looked forward to playing the Faldo course at Wildfire for the first time but what I got was the most disappointing experience at a golf course in the Phoenix area this year. The greens have been recently aerated which was not revealed by either Golf Now or upon arrival at the course. Needless to say greens were absolutely unputtable and a mess. A total waste of my time and money. Sand in bunkers was terrible. Only positives of the round were the tee boxes, golfers I was paired with and the GPS system on the golf cart. I have played over 25 courses in the Phoenix area since the start of the year and this is the worst conditioned course period. Would not recommend and will not be back anytime soon.
Awesome! One of my absolute favourites!
The Faldo course is far better than the Palmer! Although the conditions at both courses are outstanding........The design, bunkering and set up of the Faldo is my favourite in the valley. I am a huge fan of more parkland style courses as opposed to desert styles like Quintero, Boulders etc
The bunker designs and overall asthetic were fantastic, and it was a challenging track. Put this at the top of your must plays, because to be honest, once you've played one or two of the top rated desert courses in the valley they all start to look and play the same.
Definitely play the Faldo
Aerated Greens
I enjoy the course usually. But today I was not aware of the condition of the greens. Just aerated, poor playing condition.
Very favorably impressed
I've been wanting to play Wildfire and did for the first time June 1. Bottom line, Wildfire is a class place. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot, everything was just about perfect. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. The practice area is wonderful and the Faldo course was really fun to play. Greens were receptive and putted well. The traps are exceptional and it's a treat to hit out of top quality sand. The layout is fun; challenging enough without being too difficult. Fairways are wide but many fairway traps which are avoidable with a good tee ball. I played the blue/white combo (6250 yards) and shot 77 with an 8 handicap. I'm very thankful that I found a new, wonderful place to play during the summer. It's located just off Tatum, north of the 101.
May is the Time to Play
I enjoy this course. It tends to be very busy January to April and somewhat expensive. Taking the time to play later in May is well worth it! Course is not pristine but still offers a good track!
Nice but not top tier
Wildfire is a nice facility but it is not competitive with the top tier facilities in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. In fairness, they seem to realize this in their pricing structure and their conditioning. I understand that late May is a "transition" period for courses in the area, but the condition of the course was average. The practice area was in rough shape. There were plenty of outside staff, but the starter, for instance, was very disengaged. The staff spent the bulk of the time in the shade checking their phones and talking to one another. I was not asked if I had played the course before and I was not given any information about the course or amenities. I did enjoy the layout and would say play here, but don't think you are getting a top tier experience.
Great course
Wide open fairways with Lots of bunkers make this a challenge from either box. Watch your distances to the bunkers and you will be fine. Greens ran very true and were in great condition. Will definitely be back.
