Greens and fairways very fast due to pre overseeing in effect in a couple of days. Pace was good.
Fun course, friendly fairways
This is a nice course, though there really isn't any major standout holes, there were a few I enjoyed and am looking forward to replaying. Tee times were set at 6 min apart...ridiculous. The foursome ahead of us couldn't hit further than 150yrds, even when they did hit it straight. There were 4 foursomes behind us waiting at every hole.
I think this course could take it up a notch in aesthetics if they trimmed up the areas a bit. There's overgrowth around tee boxes where there should be clean edges. The wild desert areas look as though they're never attended with, which is a shame.
Conditions
Course is dry as the Sahara. I don’t want to hear about the summer as I’ve played many courses in much better shape in the middle of the summer. Fairway is all dead. Go somewhere else.
Good value
Good price for time of year. Course in good condition overall. A little improvement could be done in the off fairway/ rough area’s.
solid course, terribly tee time spacing
This was the first time playing this course. It's a solid layout. There are a few bunker placements that were perfectly placed that added a bit more course management consideration. And I did like the dips around a few of the greens. There was a false front on one of the greens where, if you didn't get about 10' in, you'd be rolling off the front. those were my favorite parts. I did get caught up on a few of these things and that's what made the round fun and will make me play a bit different the next time.
My issue with not giving it an exceptional rating is the details. Overgrowth around tee boxes, the wash waste areas look like the greenskeepers/maintenance don't attend to them. These are the things that would really take this course up a notch. Gas carts are obnoxious. Not only do they smell, they make it difficult to be quiet around your playing 4some. I want to be considerate, but also move to my ball to speed up pace of play, and the firing up of the motor makes this difficult.
Several holes are fairly wide and I had a couple of drives that, on a more narrow course, could have been lost balls. (i had 0 lost ball penalties this round where I may have had a handful on other courses while I work on a new driver swing)
all in all, this is a great course and I will have no issue driving down to maricopa for $40-$55 price range.
Decent track
Summertime conditions. Worth the &40. I have played courses in better shape and worse. Greens almost healed up from being punched. Par 3 tee boxes could use some help. All in all I would play again. Played it several times over the years. Keep it in the fairway and it’s not challenging or tough.
Great course conditions
The course is in great condition considering the temps this summer. The greens were smooth and receptive and the tees and fairways were nice as well.
Some of the bunkers were a little rough and are in need of some additional sand, but overall it was in great condition. I will definitely be back.
BKR at the Duke
The Duke is located in my neighborhood so it is nice to just wheel over for a round of golf or a bucket of balls. The tee times get hard to obtain come late September - January. Wish a 9 hole option and rate were available.
