The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes

About
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes sits along the pristine headwaters of the Florida Everglades, surrounded by live oaks, towering pines, and palmettos. Two-time British Open Champion Greg Norman designed the golf course. He and his team focused on preserving the area's natural beauty and ecosystem. The ponds, wetlands, and mature trees were carefully protected and incorporated into the challenges of the design. The final result blends in so seamlessly it's as though the golf course had been there all along. Norman's commitment to the environment was recognized with the course's certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The player-friendly layout has wide fairways and generous landing areas but the subtly contoured greens and strategically placed hazards will keep you on your toes. Five sets of tees make the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes even more accessible to players of any skill level.

Wrapping up a great day. Photo submitted by Scott4497478 on 11/06/2012
Great track and very profesional
I really enjoyed playing this golf course, it was in great shape and bottles of water on every other hole was welcome in the 90 degree heat. I will definitely be back!
Unexpected Details
Course was over watered due to an upcoming December event. Had to play cart path only. Also the new program for am tee off times requiring a caddie was an unexpected charge.
Notification of above details would have helped overall experience
Very poor conditions
I played on november 10. Course was in very poor condition. I think they came out of overseeding at least 1 week too soon. Some tees were most mud, lies around the green were spotty (at best) snd the fairways still had the strips from the overseed prep. Totally unacceptable for a 4370 green fee. In my opinion it was worth about $40 given the conditions.
As far as the layout, there are a few interesting holes, but only the last few are memorable. I expected more for the cost. .
Perfection
Stayed on property and decided to play 9 with my 3 year old daughter for the first time. Barry and everyone at the pro shop, as well as Nick the starter made our time out one I'll never forget. Course was in awesome shape, can not wait to come play again in the future. Thank you Barry - from Francesca & Vito
Save your money
While the layout and service is great and the steep 200 tee time is not worth the condition this course is in. For much less than half the price you can play so many comparable courses that are in much better condition. OCN, Disney and ChampionsGate just to name a few. In the winter I’m sure it’s pristine But right now it isn’t worth the money. Half of my lies around the green was either mud or dead grass. Not what I would expect from a $200 round.
Great Course
First time I played the course and it was a great time. Alex the floor caddie was phenomenal. He cut so many stokes off of my card by his green reads and knowledge. He was great and if you play there, ask for Alex.
Caddie made our day
Our caddie Alex made our experience playing wonderful! He was knowledgeable and personable. What a difference to our game he made. Great advice on the greens. Highly recommend asking for him when you play.
Used to be perfect
Course was patchy in fairway. Ball did not sit-up well because of the patchiness in the fairway. Would have thought it was better since PNC is less than a week away.
Great track, great staff
Only thing I missed was the cart path only announcement. But even with cart path only, 3:45 minutes pace of play for a tough course in windy conditions was great! Freshly over seeded, so the fairways were a bit soggy, but the greens were perfect!
Under water with lack of communication
Recently played this course. Flew from out of state for a conference and booked a Sunday afternoon tee time with others flying in. Went to the clubhouse and was informed the course was extremely wet from over watering it intentionally and was cart path only. Was told if it was too wet, we could come back after a few holes for a refund. At this point it was too late to book elsewhere. There was no indication of this when I went to book my tee time and leave a deposit. I ended up plugging 5 balls off the tee in the middle of the fairway. Some tee boxes were so wet that we couldn’t hit from them. Given folks sometimes are booking tee times from out of state and bringing guests with them, it was very disappointing that I got no indication of the issues until I got to the course given it was too late to find another course to play. I likely will never go back again. I recommend calling in advance going forward to understand the conditions since there was no rain or indication that the course may be borderline playable.
GolfPass should notify customers about maintenance schedules
Course had been overseeded and was being kept wet as part of preparations for season. There was no indication of that when I booked the tee times. I would like my initial deposit refunded. The Ritz was professional and refunded the remainder of the payment.
No mention of over seeding
There was no advance notice of over seeding. Paid full price for cart path only . Fairways and tee boxes flooded and to soft to stand on or hit from. We were expecting a better experience for the cost to play. We played 6 other courses that week and this was the worst one of them all and the most expensive of all of them. Very disappointed as this was supposed to be the premium course of our trip.
Wow, just wow
The course is in great shape...no "cart path only" restrictions (early August). It's challenging but fair. The fairways are generous, but errant shots can easily find a penalty area or heavy shrubbery. The greens were receptive to well struck irons and putting moderately fast (maybe 10 stimp?). The shape of many of the greens make accuracy and club selection very important. Pace of play was stellar...we finished in a leasurly 3:30 and neither did we have to wait on any shots nor did those behind us. Taylormade TP5x practice balls and shame on whoever "five fingered" the two range balls we found on the course (and returned to Josh), nowhere near the practice range. The game of golf is supposed to be honorable. If you can afford to play such a course, you can darned well afford to buy your own golf balls. If you have time try the Grilled Cheese Brisket sandwich in the grill room.
Just okay
Fairways had some veining in multiple places, greens were aerated and I knew this going in, but they were very sandy and slow
Rental set all needed new grips on them
Course upkeep is not worth the money.
I hesitant to write bad reviews, but this course needs repair. Every aspect was great except the actual golf course upkeep.
I wish i had read More of the reviews prior to ordering.
There are so many patches of dead grass and and poor fairways, its just not worth the $195. It was honestly the level of a $60 course.
I rented clubs, they were great, Taylor Made Stealth clubs. The food ordering system is great. But again the actual course is just so bad. Even some sand traps were not kept.
