Hernando Oaks Golf & Country Club

This used to be a 4 star facility. 2 weeks ago it's the worst course I ever played. 3 ft weeds in the fairway. 3 ft grass in the rough. Hit a ball 1 foot off the fairway and it's lost. Needed a 4 inch tee at the tee box because the grass was so high. The bunkers are unplayable. Grass and mud and water in them. The staff is nice.

I've been playing this course for years now but the last time I played it in late August it was truly disheartening - weeds and crabgrass have completely overtaken this place and the sand traps (if you can call them that - they are more likened to gravel pits) are deplorable.
The only positive thing I can say is it looks like they are trying hard to at least bring the greens back. I understand the recent heavy rains can cause drainage issues but none of the other local courses are in this bad of a shape.

please please don't let this course go the way of Quarry .....

I have played here 4 times. I have always thought of this as a great course. However when i played 08/30/15, I was very disappointed. Looks like they have not done any maintenance in over 2 weeks. Is this place going under?

I returned to this area to visit a friend and remembered Hernando Oaks as a nice course with a great layout. I was very saddened to see this course in such deplorable condition! Weeds and crab grass everywhere! Just don't go! Worst course I've played in years!

I haven't played Hernando Oaks in a few years but it used to be one ofthe best courses in Hernando County. I was amazed of the current conditions. Granted, it has just been raining for 2 weeks and the course was unplayable due to flooding, but without the rain the course has been let go. It's a shame, that course had so much potential. I won't be back. Sorry :(

Three very soggy fairways. i guess this caused very little
maintenance and weeds in the fairway a foot high.

This used to be one of the nicer courses in the area, but as of late it is starting to look more and more like the cow pastures that surround the area. Goose grass EVERYWHERE. They are trying to kill it, but they are loosing the battle for sure. Many of the greens have huge dirt/dead spots on them. They don't seem to care anymore as they only mow the part of the green by the cup. They do not rake the sand traps anymore, so if you land in one (we played you could pick rack and place as it was the only fair way to play) you can barely get the rake to actually dig into the sand its so hard. I hope they figure it out soon, because I did really like this course, but its hard to validate paying anything above $15.00 to play it now.

Green played a little slow. Fairways in good shape. Course needs water. Rock hard tee boxes

if your neighbor is Southern Hills Plantation I guess you better be "Above Average" ? .. this was Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club .. very nice . I don't always like "residential" courses but this place is a surprise . Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club is above average and is a great choice for anyone in the north county .

a very nice course that needs a little work on the greens.they were a little slow due to recent hole punching and some poor spots,but this course has great potential.not overly hard just using your head will get you around without trying to kill it.front nine built around residential area,back nine in wetlands and tree lined areas.close to suburban area but secluded enough for wildlife to view.

My protégé and I enjoyed it very much. We both look forward to playing it again and intend to bring two other players so we can have a foursome.

This course has so much potential but the managerial staff has done a poor job maintaining this facility. The greens are in poor condition, and the sand traps are not consistent or even maintained. There are better courses in the area for the same dollar value, so I think I'm going to spend my money elsewhere for golf.

I've just finished my 3rd round of golf at Hernando Oaks. The actual course's upkeep and layout are btwn above average and excellent. The scenery is excellent, even with several of the holes having residences nearby. I have one quarry with Hernando oaks: Speed of play. Slow speed of play can make the best golf course a miserable experience. The first two times I played this course, my group found ourselves waiting to make each stroke due to an overcrowded course. The group I'm front of us was waiting in the group im front of them, and you get the idea. Either they overbooked the course or didn't enforce tee times. You may wonder why would I say this, but not rate "speed of play" as "poor". I rated it fair because the last time I played at Hernando oaks, which was the same day as my previous outings (Sunday afternoon), the speed of play was very good. To sum it up, the course itself is excellent. I'd suggest this course to anyone, but I'd let them know there's a good chance they'll be waiting a couple minutes per stroke. Hopefully course management has done something to improve speed of play. Hit em' Straight

I really enjoy this course so fun to play and the layout is nice. Fairways big enough to make your round more enjoyable.

The courses layout is very challenging but the over all condition was terrible. Crab grass all over the greens and you couldn't tell where the green and fringe meet. No sand in the bunkers just dirt. One of the worst conditioned course in Florida

I am new to Florida and have played 5 different courses and this Hernando Oaks is now my favorite. Fairway and greens were the best I have played since I moved to Florida 2 months ago.

Liked the course design and it has good par 3's. The traps were well placed but more gravel than sand. Clubhouse/restaurant closes very early as does the washrooms. Huge greens.

This was the best Florida course that I have played is what I told my golf partners. Then on # 15 I found myself in a greenside bunker, there was maybe 1/8 inch of sand in the bottom of the trap . I realize that greenside bunkers are meant to require a certain skill level to get out, but if you are going to have sand traps on your course, please maintain them. Overall the course is a real jewel, I will definitely go back- but at the price you charge, keep up on the maintenance. Now I got that out of the way, I have to say the staff was friendly, and the rest of the experience was great

We reserved an afternoon time on this site for $20 and free range balls included per the reservation. When we arrived we were told that the range was closed for maintenance. This was at 2:30 P.M. The employee did not seem to care that I purchased the tee time partly cause of the range and he did not offer any remedy to the problem. He actually blamed Golf now for not updating the website. The carts are used Disney carts and are in rough shape. The fairways are very dry and the greens are half bad, half decent. This course is steadily going downhill and this is my second bad experience with it. Lesson learned and I will never be back, I recommend playing somewhere else until they work on the course and their customer service.
