About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Silverthorn is back
With the rough being mowed I no longer lose a dozen balls a round. It is still a joy to golf here.

DO NOT GO HERE TO PLAY!!!
I was absolutely blown away by the condition of this course!!! I am from upstate NY visiting my family. This has always been one of my favorite courses. The greens were fairly nice but the rest of the course was like a cow pasture! Rough had not been mowed in a long time, fairway was burned up and also had huge crab grass/ weeds growth throughout! I WILL NEVER RETURN!!
Your review is absolutely accurate. However there is new management and efforts are underway to bring it back. I am a lifetime member of the club and no one has been more critical or disappointed than me in the condition. Read some recent reviews, The course is playing much better. Fertilizer goes down this week. All the fairways, tees and greens get over seeded in 4 weeks.. Give it one more try next time you are down. If you don't like it, I will pay for your round and buy you a a beer.

Lousy course
sand traps full of weeds and hadn't ever been racked. Grass was not mowed full of weeds. Will never play here again
It has being more than 3 weeks that grads in fairways hasn’t been cut. The grass is up my ankle!
Greens coming in good
Greens much better than last time I played there. Fairways full of crabgrass and waste areas. Hitting fairways can be like being in the rough.

Limited improvement
Since round last week greens are somewhat better and some improvement in length of rough but more is needed as ball is difficult to find off the fairways. Fairways and traps need grass on the former but less grass in the latter.

How is it getting worse?
I don’t know how this course got to this point. Used to be one of the go to’s and now it’s absolutely garabage. Staff is mediocre at best, course looks like it got hit by a tornado. I’ll come back once things change but I think it starts at management. Seems like everybody gave up. No cart girls as well which really sucks in this heat.

Poor shape at best
Most of the fairways were overgrown,weedy or non existent. Course needs some major upkeep. It was fun for a little while but we couldn’t get into the back nine . Had it cost 20 bucks it would not have been worth it

Worst course ever played
I have golfed for 30+ years and I have never played a course that was as poorly kept as this course was. The rough was a foot tall with clumps of grass in the fairway just as tall. Tee boxes were horrible not a blade of grass to be found and don't even ask about the bunkers. It's a good thing I got the round so cheat on GolfNow cause we were able to just leave after 9 holes instead of agonizing thru all 18. I would not recommend this course and won't ever be back.

Some improvement
Greens are better than a month ago, however, the fairways remain with tufts of grass or large areas with no grass. Rough also remains so long that balls are difficult to find.

Were their mowers broke?
There were big patches of grass growing in the fairways. So not only did you have to worry about loosing golf balls in the rough, you could very easily loose them in the fairways....ridiculous.

Worst course I’ve ever played
I’ve been paying for 40 years and this was by far the worst kept course I’ve ever been on.

They are working on improving the course
Play here twice a week, course is slowly improving,
mowers are out and getting the rough to a height where finding your ball is possible. Looks like they are trying to improve the course. Time will tell.

Worse Course I've seen in Florida
Between the non existent fairway grass and the rough not being mowed I have to say the worse course Ive ever played on. My wife and I lost 8 balls between us, these were balls we couldn't find that were on the fairway or just to the side. My recommendation is don't go there.

They have given up
I have played Silverthorn for 20 years. I won’t play again. The rough is taller than my knees. The fairways are dirt. Even for $25 still not worth it. I am a 14 handicap and lost 8-9 golf balls sometimes even green side.
