About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

An unbiased honest opinion
This is the second time I’ve played this course. The last time was a couple years ago and wasn’t happy then. I was shocked to fine a lot of the same from then til now.
I’ll start with the good: the carts are newer and the greens were nice. 4 out of 5 stars for both. The pace of play was great but I’m sure that’s because of the actual course condition.
Now, there are many improvements that need to be made. I’ll start at the beginning. The “pro shop” wasn’t stocked as much as my truck cab. The guy who checked us in must have had better things to do because he basically ignored everything I asked him. The range balls were very heavily worn or broken. I’m sure they were left over from my previous visit years ago. The range itself was dirt and the grass that it did have was more like the rough. There may have been 4 total tee boxes that were actually usable. The rest were like playing from the rough. Every bunker we had to play out of has grass growing through it or was completely overgrown.
I really wish I was making this up because I really like the course layout. It has a lot of potential.

Silverthorn is Back!
Totally appreciate the effort going back into the grooming of this course. I would play daily if I could. It feels right & plays right. Those who left, don’t hurry back. I really like the pace of play without you.

Great course ! But needs a little work
Golfed here the last 2 days great layout and the greens and fantastic. Fairway needs work lots of off grass clumps and holes very uneven and bumpy sand traps they need new sand and have growth in them, all very easy fixes just need green keeper attention to be very good Will definitely be back!!

Improving
Greens are good and roughs are more manageable. Traps and fairways need significant work

Definitely in better shape than a month ago.
The course maintenance has definitely improved. Greens were in great shape, the rough wasn’t so long where we were losing balls like the last time we played here. Overall for the 22 bucks a person it was a great value. Now the driving range was complete crap with zero grass but the course was in pretty good shape.

Better roughs
Greens have been good for some time and on this day it was obvious that more effort had gone into cutting the roughs shorter so that majority of wayward shots could be found. Traps still need additional sand ans elination of weeds.

Silverthorn is back
With the rough being mowed I no longer lose a dozen balls a round. It is still a joy to golf here.

DO NOT GO HERE TO PLAY!!!
I was absolutely blown away by the condition of this course!!! I am from upstate NY visiting my family. This has always been one of my favorite courses. The greens were fairly nice but the rest of the course was like a cow pasture! Rough had not been mowed in a long time, fairway was burned up and also had huge crab grass/ weeds growth throughout! I WILL NEVER RETURN!!
Your review is absolutely accurate. However there is new management and efforts are underway to bring it back. I am a lifetime member of the club and no one has been more critical or disappointed than me in the condition. Read some recent reviews, The course is playing much better. Fertilizer goes down this week. All the fairways, tees and greens get over seeded in 4 weeks.. Give it one more try next time you are down. If you don't like it, I will pay for your round and buy you a a beer.

Lousy course
sand traps full of weeds and hadn't ever been racked. Grass was not mowed full of weeds. Will never play here again
It has being more than 3 weeks that grads in fairways hasn’t been cut. The grass is up my ankle!
Greens coming in good
Greens much better than last time I played there. Fairways full of crabgrass and waste areas. Hitting fairways can be like being in the rough.
