About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Used to be good now a disaster
I played this course a few times prior to 2019 so when I came down to visit my in-laws it was on my list to return. Beyond disappointed what used to be a go to course is now a stay away. Like some of the more recent reviews it’s horrible tee to green. The only positive was the friendly staff that’s it. Sadly I didn’t read the reviews when I booked and won’t be back. By contrast I played another course the day before and it was in really good shape. So if you’re reading this stop here and look for another course to book.
Really disappointing
We have played this course in the past, and it has been pretty good, but it was an awful shape on this occasion and I don’t think we will go back. But the fairways and roof were just in awful shape. It did not look like the course has been cut in weeks. There were half patches of grass in the middle of the fairway, and then other spots it was completely bare. the tea boxes were in horrible shape. I booked on GolfNow thinking it was a really good deal, but even for the price we paid, it was not worth it.

Poor por conditions
They rent this course out to goat ranchers, it's pathetic. I've played here for 25 yrs. It's now in top 5 of worse courses in Hernando. Pasco, Citrus counties don't waste your time or money.

The course was in bad condition. Fairways were pretty much just dirt and weeds, rough was 10-12 inches of grass. Greens were in good shape.

Course needs work
Course needs to cut grass and weeds on fairways. I lost balls in the grass by the fairway way too often

Silverthorne review
Fairways overgrown, rough overgrown looks like it hasn’t been mowed in a month and a half. Sand spurs everywhere. If you hit into the rough one foot off the fairway, you will not be able to find your ball. This course has gone downhill. It is sad.

Mow the course.
Rough now exceeds a foot tall in many places. Golf balls disappear never to be found. Weeds in fairways are going larger weekly. Greens have largely recovered from heat abuse in early July. Maintenance around the course is visible and lends some hope the course conditions will improve. Please just mow the course will maintenance is taking place and keep it playable.

Terrible conditions
The course conditions were terrible. Uncut fairways that looked more like rough, and the rough was completely overgrown with weeds over 2 'feet high.
Green fees should include a dozen balls to compensate for the ball loss.
Conditions looked as if the course had been closed for a couple months & still looking for groundskeepers.
Played there several years ago & it was a decent course.
Won't be back!

Bad shape
Many fairways have become sand and dirt with little grass. The rough looks like something out of Scotland. High weeds all over. Spend most of time looking for golf balls. Yet they haven’t reduced the price but have drastically reduced the quality

Stay away until they use a lawn mower
Worst course I've played this year. Weeds on fairways with patchy sand spots; non existent tee boxes; Greens are Velcro; and my favorite: 1 to 2 foot roughs (I'm not exaggerating). Bypass this course unless you want to lose a dozen balls in the rough or around the greens. This used to be one of my favorite courses - What happened?

Course condition
We have lived in the Silverthorn community for 11 years and our full members of the Silverthorn golf and country club. For the past five years there has been a constant deterioration of the golf course to the point where it is almost unplayable! First the tea boxes are not being maintained and some are bare. The fairways, those that have grass are loaded with clumps of weeds and the others are barren and you’re hitting off of dirt. The approaches to most of the greens are in deplorable condition so if you have a good shot it may get diverted. The rough areas are anywhere from 12 to 24 inches in height impossible to head from, this is caused because they are not cutting the rough

Worst course I ever played
This is by far the worst course I every played. The ruff had not been mowed I a while, the fairways were in very bad shape, and the greens and bunkers were very bad shape as well. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
They responded to you by saying they would mow the roughs yet I played a week later and they have done nothing. Idle responses to your concerns...
