About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. Greens getting better
The greens are recovering from the July 4 burning. Fairways and rough have a lot of weeds and go without mowing for long periods of time. I lost five balls near the fairway in the rough because the roof is too long.
Do they own a lawnmower?
Bring a dozen golf balls and a weed wacker! The owners of this course should be ashamed of themselves, horrible fairways, hard sand and weeds in traps, overgrown grass throughout entire course. The only bright spot was that most greens were in good shape. Paid $16.00 on GolfNow and that was to much! This is a very busy golf course and as long as people are willing to pay, their just gonna keep pocketing the money and letting the course go to crap.

Going down hill
I have played Silverthorn for years but in the last year it has gone down hill.
The bunkers all look like waste bunkers, the fairways are turning non-existent with huge weed clumps and bare spots and to make it worse the place does not look like they've cut the grass in 2 months.

Still marginal
Some marginal improvement in the course since we played last week, however, rough is knee high, tee boxes are bare, and fairways have tufts of weeds and large bare spots. It’s going to take a lot of work to get things back where they were a couple of years ago.

First Time at Silverthorn
First time playing this course. Close to my house and had guest so we were looking for something close. Price was reasonable and easy to book. Staff was very friendly and got us our cart super quick and on the course. Has a little rain but to be expected. Course has some rough places with no grass on one of the tees. Been drought conditions in the area which could explain that. No one behind us until we got to 16, then all of a sudden we had 3 older ladies in golf carts playing into us. They didn't play 17 and passed us on the cart path while we were taking our shots on the fairway, then we had to hold up and wait for them on 18. They seemed to be in a bigger rush than us and didn't seem too concerned with course etiquette. I'll play the course again since it's close and all in had a good day, but the ending left a bad impression.

This my second review.
Again, for the most part, an excellent golf course, but for some reason, the staff is very unfriendly and stuck up. We got there about a half hour early and the pro shop staff member was not at counter, no big deal, but when we went looking for him, he was complaining that we were too early and that he was drinking his drink, he looked very upset. We gave him the greeting of the day about four times and he would not respond. On the fifth one he finally got the point, and said good morning grudgingly. This definitely is not a way to treat customers. This is my second time playing there and have gotten unfriendly attitudes on both occasions. Can't figure out why.

Excellent Golf Course
Obviously one of the best courses I have been too. Of course Arnold Palmer was the first player and opener of the course. That says it all. There is a plaque outside stating this. Very impressive. On the other hand, I thought the staff, especially the cart team was a little snotty, they might of had a bad day. 😆 other than that it was great to play there. Note: quite a lot of sand traps! Very challenging.

Poor condition
Fairways poor shape, a patch of green here n there as are tee boxs. All greens had issues. Price cheap but.....

Wasted effort with the greens.
Time was spent to aerate and make the greens very good. Unfortunately the week of 4th of July they let it burn up. It’s truly sad to see. Just water the greens and course management.

Deteriorating
Course to include tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens have deteriorated over the past 6-9 months. This is too bad as the course has a nice layout and was previously in much better condition.

Decent Course for under 30 bucks
Two weeks ago the course was in much better condition. Played Thursday July 6th and the greens are sun burnt, fairways have a lot of crabgrass, and the rough is foot tall grass making it hard to find your ball. The layout of the course is awesome. As long as the price is under 30 bucks i’ll play here.

While we got an excellent time ( 7:48 am ) and the price was only $22 ( prior to our discount ), we were disappointed with the conditions....the fairways were terrible....weeds and no grass everywhere.....the rough was in worse condition....the greens needed attention too....Over-all, we wondered if they were selling the property .....we won't be returning there again until we read that major improvements have been made.....

Was expecting a little more
Nice layout but fairways were in very poor condirion and greens a little shaggy. Can see it used to be very nice but does not look like it has been kept up in recent years.

Overbooked by a long shot.
So I booked on GolfNow for 10:20 am and there were 3 others with a 10:20am tee time. We finally started over an hour late. The groups were so slow that it took 2:45 minutes to complete nine holes. We gave up and went home at the turn. Not a good experience and the course was not in good condition. I hit a perfect shot in the middle of the fairway on one hole and ended up resting on a large weed. There were weeds in sand traps as well. Just no excuse not to take care of the course

Don't Bother To Play
All fairways were uncut, bald and brown.Forget being off the fairway as the grass was over 1ft tall.Greens were poor with ALL bunkers having large weeds and grass clumps in them.Probably the worst course in the local area I have tried.We paid for 18, however came off after 9.
