About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Needs some attention.
Excellent course layout. Tee boxes and greens are in decent shape. Fairways were not very good. Sand traps were neglected. With some attention the course can be excellent.

OH NO!
The good things first:
Pace of play pretty good considering how many foursomes.
Starter partnered me up with 3 other singles, had a good time.
Tee boxes were good. Greens were good.
Now for the reason I wouldn't recommend this course:
Once you drove, you were either landing on dirt, muck or weeds. You couldn't even move your ball off the dirt to find a blade of grass, This course has no place to land your ball other than on a green to get a good lie.
My partner was a 5 handicap golfer from Canada. Was hitting great shots but he told me that he has never had so many holes where he would have been getting birdies but couldn't get a fair pitch because he was hitting off sand, dirt and rocks.
If this golf course had grass it would have been very nice. Residents told me the management isn't investing in repairing the fairways and has a lean staff.

Getting better
The reality is that this is a good layout but just not in great shape.... The rye grass overseed has this course in good shape..

Decent layout, poor conditions
The course was in poor condition with very little grass in the fairways and around the greens. The greens were bumpy but decent. Good layout but needs a lot of work to be worth playing. Not terrible for $30 but not worth playing.

Could be better
Course has a decent layout BUT is in rough shape. Fairways are pretty much dirt, trees along fairways need trimmed up, tee boxes are either closed and poor secondary tee boxes are terrible, tee boxes need mowed, very little grass on practice range, best thing are greens and that’s saying something.
This course could be great but in my opinion lacks attention

Good for Price.
Course was very dry, not much open due to holiday i suspect. Ladies t-boxes were terrible and very hard to find. Overall just average for the price.

Course needs significant investment to improve turf conditions & maintenance & restore it to its original status as a top notch Hernando area course.

Needs Work
The Sand traps were awful, hard to believe that this course has such a high tee time price ( I booked that am and got the last spot ) and not take care of the course fairways were kind of sparce on grass on some holes . with some work and money this course could be realy nice sad

Nice course
This course has a great lay out and large greens ,the staff is great now the fairways and BUNKERS are another story , a lot of fairways have very little grass and none of the bunkers are really anything that you could play out of (they need a lot of work and most could use lots more sand all that being said I will play there again just will have to be a real deal !
