rainyday golf
greens full of ball marks, putted true though, if only i could putt
Good but not greats
I think this is a good course until you get to the green. The greens where not in great shape but everything else is great. I also do not think that you should have to pay as much as you do to play the course. I have played other course for almost half that are in better shape and just as challenging. I do think people should try it as you can play all these different holes from different courses.
Course Needs Work.
I played Bear's Best on Sunday, Aug 9th. I think the course layout is great and I liked the staff (pro shop and cart girl). The greens are in terrible shape. This course is not worth more than $50 a round. I hope some money is spent to fix this course up as it's one of the best public courses in Atlanta.
Nicest public course in North Georgia.
Great course. Best time to play here is the spring and fall since the bent grass greens are kept shaggy during the summer. Great practice facilities for working on short game. I appreciate being able to hit off grass on the driving range. Too many courses are using mats instead these days.
Truly sad.
Played GN tournaments here in the past. Truly sad how far this course has fallen off. Greens are dreadful, and maybe can't be brought back.. or any attempt to do so.. and at $100 + a round… They’ve really got it wrong.
Great Layput
Always an enjoyable round here. Greens were in poor shape. Everything else was top notch. Tee markers are confusing- hard to distinguish white, blue etc.
Not worth the money
Way Over priced course. Paying for the NAME "Bear's Best".
excellent course
Excellent.....golf club ..and beautify.... I like play against.
Best course I've ever played!
I'm no professional golfer, but I've played my fair share of courses in Georgia and wow, this place is incredible. The fairways are meticulously kept up to par and the greens are the same way. I will certainly be coming back more and more. The prices are actually quite reasonable; we played 18 holes with a cart for $32. Can't beat that! Absolutely love this course.
A very nice course
It's great to play so many of Jack Nicklaus' great hole layouts in just one day.
The tee boxes were watered and it was nice to be able to put a tee in the ground without the use of a hammer, like you see on a lot of courses around Atlanta. Airation and sanding was done sometime in the past week or so to the greens, but it was still pretty decent around the greens. Greens held all shots nicely. The course was in really good shape over all. One bad comment though, the hole locations may not have been moved in a week because all the edges of the holes were pretty beat-up.
bears best
The course was in great shape except the greens were a little thin but that is expected on bent this time of year. Front side is fairly flat with #6 par 3 all over water as well as #12. Back side is more difficult as elevation comes into play especially a par 5 that is straight uphill. Need GPS to speed up play as only sprinklers are marked and a layout of each hole on the scorecard would definitely help especially on the backside. Overall a good golf course for the money if you can get a hot deal otherwise a little pricey.
Great course, slow play
Course was in great shape. Greens were fantastic and very good layout. However, pace of play was very slow and no marshall there to monitor.
It was in great shape
The course was in great shape. Every hole was picturesque. The only issue was they had an outing going on and it slowed play to the point of frustration. I was told the outing wouldn't delay us, but in fact it was the only bad thing about the day. We waited on nearly every hole and every shot from the 5th hole on. Almost 5.5 hours to play.
Bear's Best is Awesome!!!
I have played courses all over the country and this is one of the BEST public courses I have ever played! It is an absolutely beautiful course in immaculate condition... There are no "blind shots" as everything on every hole is visible - really nice for "first timers"! I would give this course a 10 star rating if I could!!
Pace of play was horrible
The course is in great shape. Staff in the pro shop was friendly and accommodating. That being said pace of play was horrible. No Marshall in sight called the pro shop no answer. I might be wrong but this selfish dude must have been a member because of his arrogant attitude. this dude had his kids who should have been a on the driving range not the course. Playing from the senior tees. Holding up the entire golf course. At least 6-7 groups stacked behind them. Groups had to skip holes to get around them or the would not have finished the round before dark. At one point his unsupervised son Hit a ball from about 15 yards short of the green with a driver that almost hit two of us in the head. When that happened I screamed at the father, no apology. He just told his son you have to back off INCREDIBLE. You have to do better Bear's best.
slow and steady
Fun, challenging, and interesting course. No two holes are alike. The par 5s are where you get your strokes back from the par 3's. Would have been a perfect round if the pace of play was not so slow. We paired up with the twosome behind us and still waited on every shot plus had the people behind us hitting into us. However, the marshall was giving out discounted rounds due to the slow play. Definitely a course worth playing if you can get a good deal.
Don't overpay - or believe the hype
This is a good golf course with a variety of challenging holes, but it's not in the elite group of Atlanta courses and certainly not worthy of a $100ish green fee. We got a special on golfnow - otherwise we would have played elsewhere. Tee boxes are weak - some being rebuilt and a couple others are uneven. Range is shot....they need to manage the turf allocation better. Or relate people to mays during poor weather conditions. The range turf was similar to windy ridge. Greens get an A although they were slower than I would have expected. Otherwise almost completely healed from aeration and very true. 5/6 bunkers were in great shape, one was beachy. Slope from blues is misleading as the course plays short...not deserving of 137. Clubhouse is weak 80's architecture and oriented for large groups and banquets. Pro shop is stocked and the starter and cart girls were polite and present.....although was a little disappointed that a 4:30 Sunday start led to a 4h20m round. Shouldn't have been waiting on shot after shot. A top dollar course should ensure a 4 hour round - any decent private club would tolerate nothing less.
Excellent
It's an awesome course for the price of $32.. I wouldn't pay more $65. But it's a great deal for the twilight hours
Challenging yet playable for many talent levels
Looked forward to playing here for the first time. Lived up to its reputation. Three of us were paired up with a member, helped having him with shot locations
Great course
Great course! Weather great and staff. I HATE PAYING FOR GOLFNOW FEES as I book 90 rounds a year. #giveusfeefreegolf
#giveusfeefreegolf I agree bro I have over 50 rounds in already.
