About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Ownership sucks
Someone needs to start some sort of petition to get this course sold. The owner is a clown. The management of the course is awful, which is by design in my opinion. Insane what it costs to play this course given how much of a toilet bowl it is. I cannot emphasize this enough: this is the worst run golf course I have ever seen in my entire life of caddying and playing golf. Change the ownership. It is a clown show there.
It was meh
Not a good course for short players. The greens were fine the t-boxes were crappy
Course Peaking
Tee boxes have some troublesome areas...other than that fairways and greens in great shape. Narrow couple holes off the box so keep them straight. Greens a little slow for my liking but were looking nice.
This place is a dump
$50 and none of that money is making it to the course. Terrible upkeep and terrible management. It’s a shame, this place used to be really nice.
Birthday round
It was very wet from a heavy rain the night before. Cart path only is hard on me because of my hip but it wasn’t hateful. The people at the course were very friendly and enjoyable to talk with.I will definitely play here again!
Needs some TLC
Good course, but greens are very slow and tee boxes are embarassing. Very little grass on the tee boxes with mostly sandy dirt. Pace was slow with 2-3 groups on the hole most of the day.
Tee boxes are a pathetic mess
Several tee boxes are a complete disaster. No grass what so ever on the tee box. Mid as well be a flat sand trap that you tee off from. I don’t understand why there would be no effort to fix and grow new Bermuda grass in the tee boxes from year to year. Pretty sad excuse for any agronomy professional who works here.
Tee box had very little grass. Has a 6some infront of us that slowed the pace of play. After 5 holes the Ranger split the group up!

Worst course in Virginia Beach
Every tee box was an uneven grassless embarrassment to the game. You pay for a round of golf but can’t get a key to your cart until your tee time. Half the course was bone dry the other was a mud hole. I will never go back don’t waste your money.
Good course and fairly priced
We had a great time on the course. Affordable pricing and helpful staff.
