Black Gold Golf Club

Conditions were fantastic with large, tricky greens and clean fairways. The course gets a bit narrow and there's plenty of bunkers to infuence your club choice. Challenging but fair. Course got a tad backed up on the first few holes but smoothed out for a sub 4 hour round.

The staff was accommodating and I enjoyed the challenge of the layout along with fast greens. If you can get a good deal its great value for Orange County.

one golfer had best round, eventhough it was one of his most difficult course. Others shared it was worth to come back again. One minor issue, front nine pace was right on target, but back nine for some reason, it slowed down quite alot. Did not get to play 17th and 18th hole

Great layout, great shape, fast greens, great weather… perfect golf in every way.

Nice course played 5 days after aeration and still great greens. Just booked a hot deal for tomororw and can’t wait to have another go at that par 5

This is a fun and challenging course to play. Make sure you get a lay of the land before you swing away , if you have that big drive and can place it you will be very happy. Putting was also very tough because most of the green are rolling. The best part is the view and the staff. We will be back again (with an extra sleeve of balls) for what is one of the best top 10 course in OC! enjoy it with a friend it helps when you cry with someone....Gotta Try it> Blessings JF

Make sure to check their tournament schedule when playing here. We were delayed for 50 minutes along with slow play from the tournament players in front of us. Hard course to play in and even harder when you are waiting 15 minutes for your next swing.

I'm not a botanist or a gardener and im certainly not a greenskeeper or a Golf course Superintendent BUT it aeems they must have laid down the original sod with grass that was different from the barbwired crab grass that grabs your ball to a dead stop when your pitching it up on the green or causes it to kick in directions that make it difficult to find a tee shot you thought would be waiting in the center or somewhere on the fairway but you'll start to get a little irritated when you dont find your well struck down the middle with a draw drives at all. The track is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I just dont think they are using the best possible grass. But if you love playing at San Clemente Municipal Golf Course and like the grass they have there too. Then you'll be right at home at Black Gold. I'll play here again, just so I can appreciate when I play Arroyo Trabuco even more. Black Gold will one day have a great cover, it deserves it and/but it wont be too soon.

And yes, I had a terrible score compared to the game level I played that day.
