About
Nestled in the foothills of Yorba Linda, Black Gold Golf Club sits on the site of a former Shell Oil Field. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, thought the location, with its dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views overlooking Orange County and Palm Beach, was the perfect place for a round of golf. On a clear day, the views stretch as far as the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The challenging layout is filled with narrow, rolling fairways and fast greens accented by thick patches of punishing rough. Due to the hilly terrain, a flat lie is hard to come by. The front nine requires accuracy and the back nine offers some particularly interesting risk-reward opportunities. Water hazards come into play throughout Black Gold Golf Club, most notably on the 18th. This par-5 finishing hole incorporates a cascading waterfall.

Advanced notice
While 18 whole hole airing , closing is better I Would have not get there
If I know No advanced notice in golfnow $10 is enough as range ballsl
Greens were being aerated so they were not fun to putt on, but I knew that going into it. Besides that, beautiful course and well maintained, and highly recommend to anyone. Will be coming back once the greens are back to normal!
Aerated and Sanded Greens
Decent course. Lots of blind shots and target golf but playable. The aerated greens had about a quarter inch of sand on it so putting was nearly impossible. Maybe that explains the discounted price. I would like to return when the greens are back in shape.
Aerated greens
I've played here a number of times before. Normally I would give this course a 4.5. It's a great layout, well-maintained, and has great views. But when I booked it 5 days before, it did not mention the greens were being aerated. Not only were the greens punched but they were completely filled with sand, making putting impossible and the whole round unenjoyable. We ended up mostly practicing chipping. What's the point of a reservation system if it doesn't tell you something as basic as this?
Punched greens had too much sand
The greens had just been punched. But the sand had not been swept off the greens - unbelievably lame. I can live with a discount for punched greens, but putting on sand is simply not golf.
Great Course & Friendly Staff
Had a great time playing Black Gold. For the price, it is hard to beat. And a huge bonus was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly.
Very good
Weather was hot but play was exiting. Very good condition and supurb operation. The only thing deserve complain was following team. They are too in a hurry and pressing. Take it easy folks here is not a market place. Nobody is chasing you.....
Good Staff
Like that the course has a starter, and will match up singles with groups to even out play as much as possible.
Enjoyable
Great views and very well kept course, challenging at times with blind tee shots but pretty fun to play. Bring your sunscreen!
Excellent Course
Course was in excellent condition. Service was spectacular. My sons car charge was getting weak. He didn't realize it but a signal was sent from the gps to the cart shop and the cart crew delivered him a fully charged cart on the 11th green. Amazing service.
Was threatened with a gun
Group behind me was extremely rude , yelling while I was teeing off, hitting into me , threatening to knock me out , and then threatened me with a gun. Three big guys and just me. If you want a combat experience this is the place
