thinking (wo)man's course from tee to green
first time playing, had heard it was a tough/typical johnny miller layout. Was pleasantly surprised, definitely a course that requires you to think through every stroke. Tough for sure, with plenty of trouble, but less than perfect shots were not unduly penalized. reasonable length from the blues, but very few grip + rip holes from the tee, with layouts often ideally calling for a shaped drive or else forcing a shorter club to avoid trouble. Several holes require correct placement of the tee ball or else you will have to shape a shot around trees for your approach. Green complexes are tough with liberal bunkering. The greens are a bit too tricked up for my taste, with a lot of movement and elevation changes such that your target on a 30yd green may only be 8-10yds, miss on the wrong level, or even above the hole and you may have a hideous putt. If they were running faster (were probably a 9) they would be almost impossible.
Conditioning was very good, the greens appear to have three different strains on them including poa (looks like camouflage) but credit to the greenskeeping crew, they were reasonably quick and fairly true even towards end of day.
excellent course and highly recommend
Very kind, and excellent and challengable course.
Highly recommend !
Challenging yet handlable if you hit straight.
I would say it is the easiest of the Johny Miller courses I have played but it is still not easy. Not long from the white tees so it can be had but sooner or later you will hit it where you cannot be. Isn't that the way a course should be? I loved the greens.
eagle ridge
great course. the putting was in excellent condition
Nice challenging course
Have played several times recently and enjoyed the course. Staff is friendly and helpful. Mondays appear to busy day and slower play.
Great challenging course.
Bunkers were wet with not much sand and therefore hard to play out of.
Great staff, Course in great shape for winter
Eagle ridge drains really well for winter play. The layout is kinda funky thru the gated community, and it feels like the back nine is way harder than the front nine
Not a good day for (my) golf...
Very cold, windy and wet conditions plus the frost delay. Only made it through 8 holes starting on the back 9. #12 has water all down the left side and a very narrow fairway. Apparently, they've gotten complaints and put up a barrier on the left side of the fairway so that balls can't roll into the water. They've also, across the course, removed many bunkers (per the golf shop) but there are still an overwhelming number of bunkers on some holes. Holes 14 to 17 (for me) were nightmarish, deep ravines, overhanging trees, bracketing bunkers and big ups and downs...As my hands were frozen and my mood as well, I stopped play after the 17th...Maybe I'll try again in the summer.
Beautiful Golf Course
Being the winter conditions, eagle ridge was in perfect condition. I play here often and I love this course. Definitely a great bang for your buck!!
Challenging but a great course
We had a 3:20 tee time so the wind was picking up a bit, which makes this tough course even more challenging. This course definitely makes you think about tee shots, either play safe with a few iron shots or go big with the Driver. I will be coming back soon
Coure is in great condition. The greens were very fast even in the rain.
We played with a light drizzle off and on. The drainage is wonderful. There were no puddles in the fairways (except in the bukners). Good value for the $$. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel like the actually care.
Well Maintained
This is a great challenging course that is typically well maintained. I went just after all the recent rain and there was little problems with the water. Good Drainage course. When they have reduced rates, it is a good value.
Great Challenge, play here often for a "real" handicap!
Course is in Great Shape from tee boxes to greens. Staff treats you well and pace of play was fantastic for this Monday tee time.
Slow pace but great condition considering all the rain
Course was in really good shape despite having over an inch of rain overnight. Bunkers had standing water (which was expected). Fairways and greens were fairly dry (which was a pleasant surprise). Pace was good at the beginning of the round--an hour and a half for the first seven holes. Holes 7-18 took THREE HOURS AND 45 MINUTES. Had to play No. 18 in the dark despite teeing off at 12:10. Overall, a good experience because of the amazing course drainage.
Beautiful course with undulating fairways and multi-tiered greens.
I bought a round for my father-in-law and friends for his birthday, and we were really impressed with this course!. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The multi-tiered greens were also in great shape. This course is definitely a shot-makers course. Each fairway and green are flanked with deep bunkers, and there are numerous doglegs and hazards that create specific landing spots. The greens are fairly large and they have specific landing areas for different pin placements. On some holes it is easy to get on the green, but if you miss your spot you are looking at a likely 3 or 4 putt. Challenging but fair. I shot my highest score in two years on this course and I can't wait to do it again!
Tough!
Eagle Ridge is a pretty nice golf course. It has all the features you would want. There are enough tee options to fit any game. Pick your tee wisely. They softened the layout so it is much more friendly. (removed some traps, cleaned up some areas that were in play) The greens seem to be softer and they slowed the greens so they are a little more puttable. This is a very good test of golf.
great vale for the money very nice course well mantained good degree of difficulty
great day great play. course geat condition well planned out for any type of golfer nice course
I was challenged, great diversity of holes, the elevation changes and the views! The Fall colors were outstanding...
Without question the ER staff stood out. The young lady who assigned carts greeted me with a professional attitude, intrroduced me formally to my playing partner and wished us a good round...very polished.Pro shop staff equally refined as well. I had a golf experience here not to be forgotten.
Not an easy course, very well maintained.
Staff was friendly, beautiful course and a nice lay out.
recently Aerated Greens
Great course, but they recently aerated the greens. they should have mentioned that or should have been noted on your site. greens need another week to recover.
