Great course with friendly staff. Excellent condition with fast greens. It's a bit of a drive and on the pricey end but it's worth it, especially if you find a deal out there like Golfnow

Very undulating fairways, well placed traps! Greens hold true! You need to play more than once to know where trouble lies. Will definitely play this course again and again!!

Played the course a year ago and once again, the course was in fabulous / great shape. The greens were fast, rolled true and held nicely with an approach shot. Please make sure to take a golf cart with a GPS system. A great track.

This course was very....very.....nice. The greens were real fast but ideal for upper class level golfers. The course was well cut and clean. I recommended golfing after 1:00 PM because you can enjoy the golf course more instead of being pushed or slowed down.

If you can get a hot deal at this golf course, then do it! One of the most challenging courses in the area with quick greens. If you are on the wrong side of the hole you literally can't get it close. Be sure to miss on the right side! Overall, great course that is rather expensive without a hot deal.

What can I say about Blackstone that hasn't already been said? It is quite the challenging course that is a gem (possibly THE gem# of McHenry County and the Chicago suburbs.

This was my third time playing the course, and the other two times were much later in the year. I figured that since it was early March, the greens would be a little fuzzy and average speed. WRONG! They already have the greens running fast and true. After playing rounds at GCI and Whisper Creek earlier in March, I was blown away with how well the greens #and the course as a whole# were manicured. On one hand it takes a lot of the guesswork out of putting. You know the putt will be fast, you just need to pick the right line. On the other hand, it can get quite scary standing over a putt that you know is just going to take off as soon as you touch it.

Even without the fast greens, the course is just downright tough. There are numerous forced carries over water and wetlands. While there is not an overabundance of bunkers, the bunkers are strategically placed throughout the course where they defend both greens and common landing areas in the fairways. Hitting a driver off the tee is sometimes not the wisest choice on this course. You really have to think your way around this course and that I why I love it. There is no "right or wrong" way to play at Blackstone. I think to truly get a feel for the course, you just need to play it multiple times.

There is a reason why Blackstone is consistently rated as one of the best courses in all of Illinois. All three time I have played it, I have looked back a week or two later and reflected on the challenge of the course as a whole or just played a couple of the holes different ways in my head. To capture a golfer's imagination like that is something special. Spend the time to make the drive out to Marengo and don't think twice about spending the money for a round. You'll thank me #and all of the other reviewers who give this place 5 stars# later.

It was a nice day so I looked for a "Hot deal". I played Blackstone great layout it was pretty wet cart path only. I played well and will definitely be back.

Great layout, tough but fair greens, and good variety of shots required to play. Just wish it wasn't so far away.

Monday day, fast round. Beautiful course, fast greens.

Greens were fast, rolled well..but were beat up by the "spikeless marks". It seemed that the holes stayed in the same place a few days extra as other areas of the greens looked great. As always, nobody knows about fixing ball marks on the greens.

This is a great course and the people are also great. The only problem is the punishment these greens take. I play some courses where no matter how hot I hit the green i produce only a slight disturbance to the green's surface. Unfortunately this course's greens yield huge ball marks when a shot comes into them properly. This problem is not unique to this course, so it's something that all people who love golf have to figure out how to help mitigate.

This is a very nice course with very good fair way and green. The golf car is just normal. I like the course but little far away from suburban area.

One of the best public courses around. On the weekend, its best to go out west. Amazing conditions all around including lightning fast greens. Only negative aspect was that the halfway house closed early for a Sunday.

Golf course was great. Greens were very well conditioned and fast. Staff was very professional and wanted to make your experience awesome.

Absolutely recommend this course.
