Blackstone Golf Club
About
Blackstone Golf Club is one of the hidden gems of Chicagoland golf courses. It has one of the most natural landscapes of any course in the area thanks to the incorporation of more than 26 acres of environmentally protected wetlands. Half of the course is routed through dense forests of oak and hickory trees while the other half stretches across lush, open meadows. The wetlands come into play on 13 holes. Bob Lohmann, the golf course’s designer, crafted dramatic bunkers with irregular edges and strategically placed more than 50 of them along the greensides and fairways. It’s not a golf course where you can “grip it and rip it,” instead it will force you to think carefully before each hole. The layout can be a challenging test but four sets of tees and wide, player-friendly fairways make Blackstone G.C. more accessible for a wide range of skill levels.

Tough, windy and fast
If you like a challenge, Blackstone is for you. Meticulously maintained from practice tee to the practice greens, through the 1st tee and through the clubhouse. Greens lightening quick but very true. Lots of risk reward experiences for opportunities to go for par 5's in 2 with a solid tee shots. Also opportunities for huge scores if that 2nd shot is not as good as it needed to be.
Course is very scenic and worth the drive out to Marengo.
Great Track
This course is layed out perfectly. Had a great round, happy to see rangers out on the course to keep pace of play moving. Never had to wait at any tee box. Had lunch afterwards, the staff was excellent, food was fantastic, would recommend this facility to anyone who loves to play.

Poor customer service
This course is overrated. Very poor customer service. Course is in good condition though but I would rather spend my money in some other golf courses.
Great Fun
Blackstone is a quality golf course with several tee sets to accommodate differing golfer's skills.
Always in good shape with challenging holes and great views.
The Gold tees at 6133 yards plays much longer as two short but challenging par 4s make these tees tougher than one might think.
Always enjoyable. Wish the course was closer.
Absolutely GREAT facility & course here!!
Had the chance to play this course 3x over the course of 2 weeks. Simply beautiful track these folks have setup out there, at a very affordable rate. If you live w/in 1 hr I'd make the trek up here. Very challenging, definitely a thinker course. I’d put this up w/the Pete Dyes & TJ Jr’s tracks. The Arch thought of almost everything. Not too many t-boxes setup where you will walk up too & hit away :-) I’ve played as a single & brought some partners up. It will take a few rounds before you figure out where to miss in the mean time bring plenty of balls cause this place can punish your ego severely
The only complaint I’d have is that sometimes this place can punish slight misses pretty bad & thus the repeated ball searching creeps into the time it take to get 18 in. I played as fast as 4 hrs but did see a 5.5 hr round on a Saturday. The good news is that most people are looking for their balls too so no one will be pushing you. I get that it’s hard but after playing here 3 times now, this ole girl will smack you around pretty harshly. Watch the T’s cause they have 3 nice setups, w/Tips, Tips minus & Gold. The tips minus was a nice mix along w/the Gold. Course marshals everywhere, fast greens & absolutely gorgeous layout. Very scenic & more than 1 signature hole here.
PS they use some pretty nasty well water so you might want to by some, cause it will turn yellow quick.
Have fun & enjoy the track!!
Greatcourse with great conditions
Course was in outstanding condition, greens in best shape of any I have played on this season. Good value for the money.
Great layout
Course was in great condition, greens were fast and true. Pace of play was great - Saturday at 10:40 to play under four hours on a public course when all of the tee times were crowded was a nice surprise because the layout is tough. Only negative was no beverage cart on the course....it was 82 and sunny and though you pass the beverage shack at 5 and 14, it was not enough to keep hydrated
Excellent round
Probably best round of the year for enjoyment. Course excellent shape, no one in front of us or in back of us. Played in under 4 hours. Played for $30 which was an absolute STEAL. We love going to this course but this was better than usual. Highly recommended.
Staff not friendly
The course is fairly new and not mature. The younger staff was great. But, the older staff was not very friendly. They need to visit other courses that charge comparable tee time rates to get an idea of how they should act. They need to either educated or replace them. I would probably not travel the distance to play this course again. Maybe I will return in a few years when the course is more mature and the staff understands they are in the entertainment business.
Best Greens I've Played in Chicagoland
I played here upon recommendation of a co-worker...I'll thank him as this is a GREAT course. Greens were FANTASTIC...rolled, true, fast, and plenty of break. Loved this course...about every hole is target golf...hit the target and you're great, miss it and you will have issues with your next shot. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this to anyone.
Love this course
Blackstone is one of my favorite courses in illinois. I love the fast greens and you have to make sure you hit your approach shot on the right level. Course is in good condition.
Excellent condition.
Friendly people at the course with fun and challeging layout. Well maintained greens and green side bunkers. It is well worth of its green fees.
A Great course in Chicago west area
The course is well maintained, especially the greens. Little bit tough and challengable.
Great Course
Love playing this course even though it's challenging. A great layout with an awesome view as well. The course is a well maintained public course and I recommend playing the course just to challenge your game
Great course to play
I have played a few rounds over the years and always enjoy the course. It is a challenging course for the skilled golfer. Course is always well maintained. This course is a must play if you are in the area.
First Birdie of the Season
We play Blackstone regularly. We found this great deal on GolfNow and booked our first round of the season. The winter was brutal in Chicago this year and we didn't get to play earlier than this. Course was a bit soggy in some places, but after the winter we had, it was in phenomenal shape.
Got my first birdie of the season on #8.
Get Outta Town!
This golf course is fantastic. It is always in great shape and if you like fast greens, you'll be happy you made the drive out. Because it's out a ways, it's not over-crowded and the pace of play is usually pretty good. The course isn't all that challenging - there are two drive-able par fours that are both risk-reward, and all the par fives are reachable if you hit two good ones. The fairways are pretty undulated, there is plenty of water, and the greens are undulated and fast. So while the course is fairly easy, it's not hard to make a big number if you're not careful. They have a nice practice area, the clubhouse is beautiful, the staff is extra-friendly, and the greens roll very fast and true, and the green fees are very reasonable. There really isn't anything that's not to like about this place - it's a must play if you have time to make the drive.
Great track with several spectacular holes
Nice design with good variety of shot making required. Five par 5's give birdie chances and four great par 4's demand your best effort. Water and well placed bunkers take a toll. Make the trip.
Excellent course
I play golf 2-3 times a week at over 60 different courses so far this year and Blackstone is consistantly one of the best maintained and managed. Great layout. It is challanging, but fair. Highly recommend checking this one out!
