Blackstone Golf Club
About
Blackstone Golf Club is one of the hidden gems of Chicagoland golf courses. It has one of the most natural landscapes of any course in the area thanks to the incorporation of more than 26 acres of environmentally protected wetlands. Half of the course is routed through dense forests of oak and hickory trees while the other half stretches across lush, open meadows. The wetlands come into play on 13 holes. Bob Lohmann, the golf course’s designer, crafted dramatic bunkers with irregular edges and strategically placed more than 50 of them along the greensides and fairways. It’s not a golf course where you can “grip it and rip it,” instead it will force you to think carefully before each hole. The layout can be a challenging test but four sets of tees and wide, player-friendly fairways make Blackstone G.C. more accessible for a wide range of skill levels.

High end course in every way.
Outstanding track. Conditions, layout and sightlines are spectacular. Great traps, greens are fast, sloping but true. One of my favorites.
Welcome Back
For being of US Route 20 you never notice the traffic going by. I've learned that great courses move with the land, don't divide it. This course moves with the land. It peppers open holes in with tree lined holes for both nines. The back nine is something special. Admire 13 by standing on the green and face the tee box, it's art. 18 has a green that looks like it's hugging you saying, "welcome back, now go enjoy a pint." Even from silver tee's this course plays tough. The greens were a little beat up but it was the end of the season and they still rolled true. $74 for a weekend round is high especially with Marengo Ridge G.C. around the corner. But Marengo Ridge this course is not.
outstanding course to play well maintained very challenging have to play the right shot at the right time
I love this course and I caught it at a very extreme time only 33 bucks you will not find a course this great ever 33 bucks
WOW what a gem!
Blackstone is a beautiful beast, one of the best public courses I, and my 3 friends played in Chicagoland. The designer really put TLC in this course with intimidating tee shots flanked by bunkers on both sides, water and sloppy fairways. But what we appreciated most about Blackstone are the greens. Even though they were recently air-raided, they were still fast and true. We know how what the pros but on and felt spoiled.
Beautiful course!
I think Blackstone is the best course I've played in a while.
It's in perfect condition; it's very challenging; so many great holes.
The greens were very fast and undulating.
Great course
Greens are the best in the area. Lightening The way they should be!
Nice track!
Nice layout, with variety of hole types. Could use a beverage cart and restroom facilities, but worth the ride and money.
Great layout with tough greens
We played Sunday/ Labor day weekend. The fog hampered the 1st 6 holes. Shooting blind. Once the fog lifted the course was beautiful. The greens run fast and the pin placement made for challenging reads. Fairway off shots are forgiving on most of the holes if your off to the left or right. Overall i would play it again, In fact they offer a 2nd time around for 30 dollars.
Fun Course w/ Wicked Greens
This is a great course! Would definitely go back....ASAP!
The only complaints I have:
The driving range was on mats for some reason. It was Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest days, what are you saving driving range grass for?
Many of the holes are very similar to each other and a bit boring.
great course great staff
a great challenge. almost us open setting. you see it hasn't rained here in a while. difficult greens but they putt true. great employee named sue who runs things. friendly personable and a real asset to this course. got a great deal on golf now and enjoyed every minute.
Great course. Well maintained and well staffed.
Challenging with a lot of trees, water and fescue. Very fast greens that roll true which I prefer over the slow rambling greens more commonly found at public courses. And they maintain pace of play. They do not allow one foursome to screw up an entire day for everyone else, which I wish I could say about Tanna, Mill Creek, Highlands etc.
Challenging scenic course
A well maintained course out in the country. With fast true rolling greens and enough bunkers to challenge without being excessive. At the $40 golfnow price it was quite a bargain and I highly recomend it.
Challenging Course - Worth the Trip
Blackstone is a very nice golf course. Fast greens, challenging shot angles, and beautiful scenery abound. The staff is very polite, and the course is in great shape. Well worth the trip!

Blackstone is worth the drive!
Blackstone is one of my favorite Chicagoland courses. It is a challenging track with fun holes. Their greens are high-end private speed and condition. I've played it many times and never regret the 45 min drive. Debbie in the pro shop is fantastic! She's incredibly nice and accommodating. The rest of the staff is great too. Many times when playing with less than four we have met up with a member there and they have always been fun to play with. It happened again the other day and was great. I guess the only gripe is the lack of a beverage cart on a 85* day. Overall I am always excited to play Blackstone and highly recommend it.
Members and employees are clueless about golf courtesy.
Our twosome waited on just about every shot because a foursome, two members and two employees, made us wait because, "they had the right of way." Huh? Two employees made us wait. Can you believe that? Golf courtesy is not a priority here, so we played almost a five hour because they are clueless about courtesy. When we called the pro-shop from the course, we were told no one is in charge to correct the situation. No pro, no assistant pro, no general manager...nothing. The only person in the entire building was a woman working in the pro shop who was clueless on what to do. There are tons of beautiful courses in this area, such as Maringo Ridge, Whisper Creek, Foxford Hills, Bowes Creek, etc., all as nice, all with better pricing, and all realize the importance of being nice to golfers. I'll never play this course again, and based on the fact it is always half empty, a lot of people must feel the same way. For this long of a drive to the place, go somewhere else.
Very challenging
Haven't played here in about 5 years and I had a day off so decided to make the drive. The new clubhouse is very nice.
Grass range was in great shape and the staff made me feel at home. VERY fast greens with a fair amount of undulation. The greens were receptive and the course was in fantastic shape. If Blackstone wasn't so far of a drive I would definitely play here more often.
fast & smooth greens
great value and really challenging course. the greens are the really tricky part to the course, they are fast but really roll nice. the course is a little out of the way to get to but well worth the drive. from the back tees number 17 was 232 yard par three over water so you need your A game to play from the tips. i recommend this little hidden gem if you think your up to a challenge. greens were a little hard so tough to stop a chip . enjoy
Fast greens, nice layout
Fast undulating greens. Nice varitey of holes. Played in four hours on a Monday. NIce variety in the pub. Booked foursome on golf now for $40 great value
snooty arrogant!
Too many courses with much friendlier staff. for the price my money will be spent elsewhere!
I agree completely, Gorditto! We had a twosome that waited every shot behind two members and two employees, and they made no attempt to let us through. When we contacted the pro-shop, while on the course, they did nothing. "No one is around." They have no GM, no Pro or Assistant Pro, no Manager on the premises. Just the clerk working in the pro-shop. I'll never play this course again because of it. No wonder the course is only half filled most of the time.
Since you are the only bad review it kind of makes you wonders if it is the course that is the problem or you. Let me guess... you would like to pay $50 and be treated like you are at Medina? Nice.
