Whisper Creek Golf Club

I loved the challenge of this course as a lady golfer. Excellent value for quality of this course.

Just a few issues. We were told to go off 10. Totally through us off.

Carts need to have GPS.

Other than that I really have always liked this course.

I’ve been playing out here once every year or so for about 20 years. It was one of the last courses built during the Chicago course boom. Back in the day they gave golfers a little welcome bag with sunscreen, tees, divot tool, etc. Whisper Creek was probably one of the five most expensive courses in the area at that time. There are 12 perfectly pleasant but very forgettable and unimaginative holes at this course....not the kind of design that justified $80.

They have pivoted dramatically to a value oriented business model which probably makes sense. There are 2-3 great holes and 2-3 ridiculous holes that are universally despised. I think those holes leave a bad taste in the mouths of some reviewers. The conditions aside from two fairways (strange pot holes have emerged on 2 fairways) were good. Greens and tees were quite nice. Many of the bunkers are 100% unplayable....those reviews are dead on. I mean rocks the size of baseballs in numerous bunkers. It wouldn’t be possible to hit from the greenside bunkers on 18 without severely damaging your club. I’ve seen dirt in many Billy Casper bunkers, but this was the first course that featured bunkers that looked like stone quarries. Quite a shame when you look back at those vintage photos of the course featured on the golf advisor site.

It’s worth the drive given the deals they run. If you can manage to par more than one of the par fives consider at a success.! Just don’t expect it to resemble any of the online photos .

Coarse was in fair condition standing water and a lot of pot holes through out the fairways.Also alot of bare spots in the bunkers .Pace of play was slow 5hrs.Did not see a ranger until the 18th hole.

Fun course with great staff, beautiful layout with a decent range. 8.5/10 for me! Definitely will be back soon.

18 holes took OVER 5 hours...mind numbingly slow truly.

However if you are fortunate enough to get in your round undawdled EUREKA.

Play from the back tees as it's designed for 7000 yards.

I played 18 holes on this course today with three other seniors. The course is in pretty good shape although the fairway bunkers are hard and could use some TLC to make them easier to play.

Whisper Creek used to be a consistent track and a decent value. Something happened here. Greens are shaggy. Overwatered and soppy. A lot of water stagnant on course . Chopped up fairways with potholes and skinned up areas. Very disappointing and not worth the average $65 rate. Won’t go back until they get it together.

The par 5s are awful. Forced layups on 3 of them. Blind shots with hidden hazards penalizing good shots. Made triple on 3 of them and shot 86.

Part of this might have been waiting 10-15 minutes on each tee from our 8th hole on on a Wednesday at noon! Four old guys in front of us, that was it. No rangers to be seen. Plan on fixing 5 ball marks on each green( of course WC isn’t alone there)

The course was in pretty good shape, the greens rolled true and weren’t slow. The drinks were cold. And it was $27 to ride with a hot deal. But I ain’t going back.
