Hawk's Eye at Shanty Creek

I have always enjoyed the challenging layout at Hawk's Eye but it seems that since they have become part of the Shanty Creek golf course family, things have taken a turn for the worse. Most of the tee boxes were sparse and the pace of play is a problem. No course should be targeting a 4.5 hour round of golf. That in itself is problematic. Instead of saying that they are helpless when trying to enforce slow play, make it known at check-in that any group out of position will be warned once and then asked to move ahead a hole if they don't close the gap. Probably best to play the course mid-week when there are fewer Shanty Creek golf package players.

Very nice course. Had to think about every shot. Rate of play was great. Well worth the price paid

The condition of the course is not up to previous standards. Tee boxes had many bare or beat up areas. Cart paths were in poor conditions. The greens were slow and inconsistent. Courses near by didn’t show this lack of conditioning.

The course was in great condition except for a couple highly damaged teeboxes, especially hole 10. Staff though made it feel like you were interrupting their day by playing golf. I was ready with tips in hand but got no assistance with bags at any point. The carts also did not have a cooler, which was a bit of a disappointment for such a nice course. This course could do better if they focused on providing the customer with more elevated service.

Too bad they don’t have the resources to keep that course in the condition it should be in

The variety and challenge of this scenic course alway delight and invigorate my mind. Love Northern Michigan golf!

Course was in excellent condition! Greens were receptive and rolled well. Only complaints would be pin positions didn't change from Saturday to Sunday and that there was no where to grab a hot dog or a cocktail at the turn. Value was excellent nonetheless and great staff as always!

Very enjoyable golf course. Very scenic. Got a bit bunched up on the back nine so a slow round but overall I’d go back and play the course again.

Went through with my son and only had a chance to play one course out of the group. Very happy with our decision and we had a great time.

The greens were challenging and some of the tea boxes could use a little bit of TLC, but if I have a chance, I would definitely play here again!

We were staying in Traverse City so it was an hour drive for us. The driving range and putting green were not close to each other so you have to allow extra time to go back and forth. That all being said the course is absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. Each hole felt special. This was a very challenging course with large tricky greens. The fairways are fringed with a thick cut grass that makes it difficult but not impossible to find your ball if you keep an eye on where you landed. I shot 5 over my handicap but truly enjoyed every minute.

Loved the coarse. Wide open fairways and scenics with lots of undulating. Only negative for me was the sand traps more like gravel traps BUT I am spoiled being from Florida. Will play again. This and the Tribute in Gaylord my two favorite thus far on this golf vacation. Not playing the high dollar GC

This is my third year playing this course and it’s one of my all time favorites. The conditions, pace of play, layout and beauty of the course are first rate. Can’t wait till next year. Thanks

Many great courses in the area but this is a must play. Great layout,challenging but fair,and fantastic condition
