del Lago Golf Club
About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Kene has done an amazing job, the course looks terrific! We’re coming back, next week! Thank You!!
Fun play
Great course and fun to play. If you happen to hit off the fairway your ball will be gone. It’s a challenging course with some fun greens. Course was well keep up.
Fairways in rough shape
Nice layout. Interesting holes. Might try again in Fall or winter if there were reviews saying fairways in better shape. Most greens in good condition- just a bit slow.
Needs Maintenance
Tee boxes were pretty beat up & rough & sand traps need improvement. Too many large rocks, hard on golf clubs.
Fairways were good, greens OK.
Having said all that, I still enjoyed the round & may play again, mainly because price is very reasonable.
Slow Play
Teeing off 6:45am should not have to turn into over a 4.5hr round. We finished up 11am. We were a three some all about the same golfers 18 -22 hcp. we stayed on top of the foursome in front.
Great course and staff.
The course was in great condition (from tee boxes, fairways to greens). The staff (pro shop, cart boys, and course ranger) were all pleasant and very helpful.
Fun course to play
This is a fun course to play, great views, desert style with a decent amount of challenges to keep you focused, without being overbearing. Plenty of tees to chose from, just choose wisely. Greens are healthy and playable, even with the recent high heat conditions. This is one of the better public courses in the Tucson area. Go enjoy a round!
Fun time
Course was great
New management has done good things
Overall conditions of the course are vastly improved, the greens are immaculate (and play much slower than they used to), still needs a little work on the sand traps (lots of rocks). Still, great course to play.
Del Lago
First time playing this course, nice practice facilities and beautiful area. Wildlife (quail, rabbits, road runners and even saw a crane) throughout the course. Must stay on the fairways otherwise there is desert, water or houses. Some tee boxes require you to clear a small stretch of desert to make the fairway. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in great shape. Some holes you cannot see the greens from the tee box (right or left) so you might want to research the course layout before or while playing, there was no layout attached to the score card. Seem to be more single players than groups playing this course, best to let them play through to keep the pace moving. Nice course and would like to play again.
Slow greens
Coming out of being punched. Greens very slow. Good pace as hot and very few golfers. No water on course or bev cart. Make sure you stock up on water prior to going out.
Great course for the cost
First time at the course but fortunately played with someone who knew the course and could help identifying where water came into play. Nice layout and great marker at beginning suggesting trees based on handicap. Only downside is that most bunkers don't really have sand but fortunately wasn't a big problem for me. Pro shop staff were very helpful and was able to easily recover lost items two days later. Being plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Golf meet
First time out at rancho del lago and we have a great. Time
Punched greens.
Not fair to evaluate with punched greens. Ruined the experience. Should be fine in 2 weeks.
Great track! Wonderful morning!
To preface my review - I'm 64, work at another Tucson golf course, play 5 days a week carrying an 9 handicap. I had heard good things about Del Lago GC from many of the golfers I have played with (most were Del Lago members that came to my club for a change), so I decided to make the 55 minute drive to play a round. The GM was behind the Pro Shop counter and was a pleasure to talk with. The driving range is standard with good quality balls. Great for loosening up. The course is in great condition for the beginning of summer! Greens had been punched, dressed and rolled a couple of days earlier. When I heard that, I expected the worst. I was pleasantly surprised on #1 green! They were really good, a little slower than I like, but the ball rolled true and broke a expected. The course is a lot of fun! Challenging, beautiful and it has some really interesting holes. Neither my buddy, nor I, had ever played this course. With no "local knowledge" of the course layout and slopes, the round was a learning experience! As with many local courses, errant shots into the brush are gone. Take the penalty and drop a ball! Five different tee locations to suit players of all abilities. After a 3-1/2 hour round I couldn't stop smiling! It was a blast! I will definitely be making the drive again in the not too distant future!
What do u expect, a 3some following a 4some. U r gonna wai!!
