About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Keeps getting worse
This used to be a nice course but it's just gone downhill year after year. Idk how people keep giving this place 4 stars. It's 3 at best! 3 is average people and you can honestly look at this course and tell me it's average. It's below average. Bunkers unplayable, tee boxes very uneven so much so it's a distraction on 13/18 holes. Greens were ok but other than that the course is pretty rough.

Greens
The course was a Great Course. The car paths could use repair and the greens were very inconsistent but all in all it was a fun day on the golf course.

Slow Play
The day I was on the course it was very slow play. I was playing as a single and a 4some knew I was behind them from hole 2 or 3, looked back at me numerous times and didn't let me play through until hole 15. The groups behind me were giving ME a hard time about the slow play even though there was nothing I could do about it. The course really needed a ranger or two our there to control the pace of play and rude patrons.

Horrible experience
First we arrived and there was a half hour delay due to a shot gun start that went bad. The starter was so flustered that no one knew what was going on or when your new tee time was. Totally unorganized. Then it was 5 hours to play the round! Condition of the course was at best a 2 out of 5. There were maybe two tee boxes where you could find a level lie. Bunkers unplayable due to lack of sand and rocks and gravel. Fairways were burning out. Greens were ok. Layout is nice. After the round we shared our experience with the guy in the proshop and of course he was totally indifferent. Said he didn't know anything about the delays because he hadn't worked the morning???? So what ... he had regular golfers on his hands who were not at all happy. He could have done something to say sorry. Nope! Clean up your act Del Lago and spend some money on your course. Paid $80 for a $35 at best course.None of us will be back.

So Close to Great
Every time I play here I’m reminded of the great layout and design. But financial realities just don’t allow it to reach its full potential. The fairways and greens are mostly in good shape…some of the tee boxes need some recovery. There’s no way they can bring all the traps up to par without huge investment. There are just too darn many which definitely add to the very cool visual appeal — Whistling Straits-like — lots of them don’t even come into play, but they contribute to the design and visual texture of the course. Unfortunately you’re often forced to play them as GUR. Off the fairways? Pretty rough around the edges (especially if you don’t carry a few “desert clubs” in your bag.) Keep it in play and you’ll have a great day on what COULD be one of Tucson’s finest courses.

Last played two years ago
The course conditions are not what they were a couple years ago. What once was an above average course has slipped to an average course. Tee boxes and several of the greens need work. It is a nice layout but conditions are not what they once were

Love the sporty resort-style layout. Many unique holes.
Condition of paths, and areas near the green are hit and miss.
Tees were good and the greens very good-not too fast.

Going downhill
Course is in much worse condition than the last time I played it a year ago. Maybe warmer weather might help but I think they need to put more money into upkeep.
