del Lago Golf Club
About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Great Course. Awesome Staff.
I have played this course many times over many years. Unfortunately, due to water allocation issues beyond the facilities control, the fairways are dormant. The superintendent last almost 75% of his water allocation and was forced to make the decision to keep his greens and tees alive and forgo watering the fairways, at the worst possible time of the year. It is still a wonderful course to play, and hopefully the water issue will be resolved.
No grass!!!
From tee to green, this is the worst course conditions I have ever seen. There is no grass on the entire course outside of the greens. Every single shot was hit off dirt. Not worth playing unless you enjoy hard pack dirt and sand for fairways and rough.
Thirsty
We’ve played this course many times in the past and this was our first time in a couple years. It was in the worst condition I’ve seen a course in Tucson in over a decade. The greens were as amazing as we expect from Del Lago but it ends there. You were blessed if you found any grass in the fairways. The majority was just plain dirt. Even the signature 18th which used to have a picturesque creek running through it was barren. It’s a shame as the layout and location when green make it a top 5 course in So. Az. We were told there is a water issue with the city. There should at least be warning about had bad a shape the course is in. One can hope they find a water solution or they may be in danger of becoming a permanent part of the Sonoran Desert again.
Smoked fairways and hairy greens
The fairways are totally burnt and very little grass. The greens are soft and a bit shaggy to keep the putting slow. No restaurant and just the bar that sells hotdogs. Overall it’s going downhill fast.
Fairways just this side of dirt.
This course has fallen quite a bit from a glory days of a few years ago. Fairways were horrific as well as 90% of the bunkers. Greens were ok as well as most of the tee boxes. Some kinda water situation going on. Seems to be that they are dependent on rainwater for the fairways and ponds, they were very low. Use to really enjoy playing here. Will wait till the monsoons green it up.
Fairways
Tee boxes and greens in pretty good shape. Fairways are rough and more dirt and sand than grass. Needs help.
Bad experience
Course is decent but the club is going through an ownership change and the service is TERRIBLE. Wanted to get some food at the turn but many things unavailable and the female bartender was extremely RUDE! She took my credit card then threatened not to give it back to me. Then she said she was going to have me kicked off the course. I have NEVER, EVER had a course personnel ever say that to me. I will never go there again. Many other courses with good, courteous service. NOT WORTH THE TRIP!
we always love playing the course, and right now I understand the need for rain is what's holding it back from being in great condition. tee boxes and greens were as good as they could be.
Fun in the sun
Good course, lots of wildlife to enjoy if you’re looking while waiting, which wasnt that much this time around. Greens and tee boxes were ok, the fairways need some love. But I’ll go back. Fun to play.
Tough Course
I am by all definition a duffer and find this course very challenging to difficult. Many holes have a substantial carry off the tee to avoid this desert, water, of marsh plants. Even a couple of blind curves where there is water you can see on the side of the fairway. Very pretty course and was in good shape. With deserts bordering each hole and the mentioned hazards I donated numerous golf balls.
Favorite Course in Tucson
We've played this course multiple times and always have a blast. The terrain and set up is by far the best in the area, and course is always well kept!
Can't wait to set up the next T time
Challenging but Fun course
Greens are in great shape.... great value for the price. Hole one wakes you up right away
Disappointing
I've played Del Lago literally 1000 times and never seen it in such poor condition. The greens were in good shape, but had not been mowed in at least a day. The fairways were baked out and brown. I can go lots of places and play off nasty hardpan, I expect better of Del Lago.
It was a dry heat
My golf buddy and I drove 39 miles from the NW side of town to enjoy some true desert golf. It had been a while since I've played here, and the course is still a challenging treat. And it was a first for me starting on hole 10. Though the two of us had a 1016 tee time, the starter was courteous to allow us to launch early in front of 3 foursomes of a men's group. We slowly left them behind and were finished in 3.5 hours. 30 minutes of that was searching for the 7 balls I lost however I found 15 in the process. The greens were in fine condition, and the 'dry heat' allowed the drives to run. Kudos - maybe having the starter remind folks to sand fill divots on the driving range ingrains the habit to follow on the fairways of the course. Greens 10-18 were not punched like the practice green however holes 1-9 were punched and faster. That information could have helped knowing from the start. Though my score was not celebratory, we had fun with a strong finish. Recommend.
Great Layout In Iffy shape
This is a very challenging course with trouble left and right in most holes. There are many blind shots. The greens were in great shape and a bit hard so there was run out in most shots hitting the green. The fairways were very hard, dry and fast with many bare spots and hard. The bunkers were rough and hard to play out of due to compacted sand. There was a great chipping area, small practice putting green and adequate driving range. The clubhouse hadcs restaurant and bar thst were very nice.
