del Lago Golf Club
About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Like the layout and course conditions
I've played here many times and enjoy the experience. Layout is nice, it's challenging and the conditions are generally good.
Getting Ready for Overseed
Pace was excellent as we only saw one other person golfing......most likely because their rates are too high for this area, for this course and in this heat. Rates have been high all summer.....i really don't think they want players who will rack up their rental cart count. They're already drying out and shaving the fairways in preparation for overseed. Greens and tees were decent and fairways still had grass, though brown and low.
Greens
Greens were in absolute terrible condition and $41 in the middle of the summer with 100 degree weather is way overpriced.
Disappointing Course Conditions
This course is our "go to" summer course, but not this summer. Course conditions are very poor. Many greens are damaged with bare spots and you can tell a mower leaked fluid and damaged greens. Fairways have many areas of basically just dirt. Don't know what happened here, but the courses in Green Valley are in MUCH better condition.
Helpfull
Our reservations thru GolfNow were never communicated to the course. As such rather than turn us away they were able to squeeze us in at the twilight price. I shall talk to GolfNow about a refund.
Walter J Hewatt
Great course ,very challenging and well manacured. Carts are brand new bunkers have real sand with very fast greens. Loved it.
This course will make you a better golfer
The course is continuing to improve and their Superintendent is doing a great job. The owners have spent money to improve the greens, fairways, etc. and have turned their attention to the bunkers.
It is a tough layout and it requires you to play well and concentrate on each shot. There are only a couple of forced carries from the tee boxes but the most forward tees don't have any issues.
It's not a course for those just learning how to play unless you join in a scramble tournament where others can assist you. The usual weekly golfer will have no problems with the carry issue.
Sand strom
Lots of bunkers
Too many bunkers
Good greens
Good layout
Fun course
One of my favorites
Too tough for some
5 stars
Drove down from Phoenix. Enjoyed the round.Bailey was super professional. Course is in great shape. Great value. Super nice layout! 5 stars. Awesome place!
Tough course greens fast
This course continues to improve and get better as spring approaches. The greens were running at around 11 and very quick. I would highly recommend this to anyone coming out and wanting to play a great golf course designed by Pat Nguyent design who design Kemper Lakes in Chicago. The price Is great for this time of year. Well worth it and you will not be disappointed.
good layout, not is the greatest of shape
the layout for this course is very good, green are fairly slick and kinda hard to read, but the course has really gone down in terms of the condition it is in and it has been overseeded, has a great layout but it is sufffering from a lack of money being spent to maintain it,most bunkers/sand traps do not have sand in them and the"waste areas" are in horrible shape if a little bit of money was spent here this could really be a gem in the desert, the staff in the pro shop is very nice and the starter is also very nice and very friendly
Course in excellent condition
I've played Del Lago 35-40 a year since 2005 and it is in the best condition in those 12 years. The fairways are plush and the greens more receptive than they have been.
After the disaster of last year, the ownership, management and staff undertook an overhaul of everything on the course from the cart paths to the fairways, from removing overgrown bushes to softening the greens, etc.
The course can be challenging but if you follow the USGA suggestion of "playing up" and teeing from the proper Tees, you'll have no problem enjoying the layout.
The fairways are great I wouldn't hit out of sand traps to many rocks
Love this course
Wish we had known it was cart path only due to overseeding. May have played a week later, The walking was too much. However, this course is so fun and challenging.
We will be back.
2 handicap
If it's going to be cartpath only until Nov 3rd it should say so on the website. For a course that already struggles with pace of play it was a long 5 hours. 3 or 4 of the greens on the back side are unplayable due to damage. For half the money Enke is twice the course. And I used to love Del Lago.
course was in really good shape - greens were a little fuzzy so they were slower than usual but they had recently overseeded - in another week the place should be outstanding - the only problems we had was our inability to make golf shots. A great course layout that can be challenging but well worth time and money. we will be back.
New Del Lago Golf Course, Vail, AZ
Have played this course many times over the past year. Great Track but condition was suspect and greens we bad in late summer. Owner came in and closed course for 5 weeks, over-seeded, new Superintendent, new Golf Operations manager, and the course reopened on the 21st. What a difference. The condition was wonderful and within two weeks will be outstanding. Cart Paths redone, trim work done, range over-seeded in hitting area, just a great course. The track is one of the best in in Southern AZ with a lot of elevation changes and shooting down the canyons on either side. Tough course but many tees. Unless you are a single digit play it from the Silver tees. Gold and Black only for scratch of low single digits. Really worth the trim and money to play this course now.
Beautiful fairways
Just opened from overseeding and some landscape work. Greens are a little long but within a few weeks I expect this course to be primo. Have played here for years so that should say something about the overall experience.
The course is in great shape with greens very receptive to the approach shots you hit. I've been playing here for 12 years and it has never been better.
Most of the traps have been redone with new sand. The staff is continuing its overhaul of the entire course.
Definitely worth the trip to play and enjoy.
