McCullough's Emerald Golf Links
About
The golf course at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links is an 18-hole, public course that is situated within minutes of Atlantic City. Designer, Stephen Kay decided to pay tribute to famous European golf courses such as St. Andrew's in his design. The European influences are reflected in the open fairways, tricky strong winds, and undulating greens. The golf course also boasts the region's only 100-feet elevation changes.
McCullough's Emerald Golf Links' signature hole is the seventh; it is also the course's most unique. The hole features hazards like large bunkers and wide, rolling fairways. Water hazards also come into play on five holes. The acclaimed golf course is challenging but it does provide a truly unique golfing experience.

Good DAy
Day was windy, appropriate for a links course. Staff were great. Course in good shape. 3rd time playing. Great course for the $$. Definitely will play whenever in the area.
Fun and Challenging
The course plays very much like a true links course. The layout includes plenty of elevation and wide open but it's still challenging with some thick rough/fescue and awkward stances. It was tough to hold the green when landing approach shots. Play your shots short and let the ball roll up onto the green.
WIDE open - Built on Landfill
Played here a few times over the years. The course is built on a landfill and is wide open. I mean like WIDE open, no trees at all. Holes are OK but nothing great. Course was in very nice shape. Staff is amazing, bar and grill is awesome. With so many other courses nearby I would recommend this as a second 18 or nine.
Consistency
This course is always in good shape and the pace of play is managed well. A little pricey on the weekends.
Many challenges waiting
ThIs course replicates the famous holes on link golf courses. Elevation changes and bunkers will provide enough challenges. The greens were well maintained and fast.
Overhyped Land Fill
The concept -- 18 holes designed to imitate 18 world famous holes is very intriguing -- until you discover it's built on a closed land fill, complete with hundreds of vent pipes venting out the methane, and many access hatches, along with a central control station. I support the productive use of land fills after closure -- but this one seem kind of extreme. Too many people, too crowded, not well maintained, at least when we were there. To be fair, NJ had been having a drought, and the courses reflected that. Too gimmick for our group. Nice to have seen it, but we are unlikely to return.
A Gem in South Jersey
This is a Wonderful course. Green's were impeccable, fairways Beautiful and Tees mint. This place has come around in the past couple years as it did get rough for a while there. The layout is based on courses around the world. Would play here over and over again.
Review of McCullough's
This course was in super shape. A fun course to play but can be challenging on holes especially on the ones where you can't see where your tee shot it going, actually this could be dangerous in some cases.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
We would like to play this course again without the windy weather that we had.
Amazing
I absolutely loved playing this course.
I will start with the negative, and it wasn't even something the course itself could fix, the group behind us.
On the first tee, we were waiting behind a group on the fairway, and a group on the green. The group behind us, we are assuming were members, drove past us standing on the tee box, and drove to the senior tee box and stood there waiting. As we weren't about to tee off with them even on the cart path, that wasn't a nice way to start a round; having the group behind you passing you before you even teed up.
Once we got our round started I fell in love with the course. They give you a booklet with all the yardages, a little 'about me' section on each hole, which is a nice touch.
Things like that make me want to go back to a course, the little things done to make sure the golfer has a good experience.
This course is cool because it is influenced by holes all around the world, from Ireland, to Scotland and many other courses, the layout is a European Links layout, and it was pretty cool.
I would play here for the price I paid 10 out of 10 times.
Too Much Sun
On several holes you have to hit directly into the sun and cannot see where your ball went. Other than the very bright sun the course was in excellent shape.
Great value for money
18 holes of good golf!, Irish/Scottish replica course Great staff from bag drop - counter to the bar.
A decent links course
The course was in pretty good shape. A couple of greens had some dead spots (down to the dirt) that forced specific pin locations - the rest were in great condition.
Missing the fairway can be costly. The fescue is high in some places.
There are 4 or 5 blind shots. There are poles and signs to guide you. If you are a long hitter, sometimes these guides aren't the best line to take.
The windier it is, the harder the course will play!
Course fun to play.
The course was fun to play. Different elevations. Some holes had a green you could not see from the tee box. A diagram of the course on the score card would have been very helpfull.
Tough course
If you keep your shots in the short grass, this course is very fun. If you miss the fairway, you shouldn't even bother looking for your ball. If you do find it, it is almost impossible to swing your club through the tall grass. On the other hand, you are likely to find lots of other people's balls.
Lots of elevation changes and several blind shots. The greens were in great shape and putted very true.
course is in good shape
Had a great time Played with a person who played there before Played well I would book it again
it is links golf after all
The weather was perfect, just enough wind to make it interesting. Pace of play was good, but it was Monday. Only three greens were in poor shape, otherwise course conditions were great. Would definitely play again and recommend to others.
windy day in Scotland
A windy test on a links style course. Enjoyed my time there and would play again. nice greens and pace of play was moderate. played at 4pm.
Links Golf
It was a very nice course.
