McCullough's Emerald Golf Links
About
The golf course at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links is an 18-hole, public course that is situated within minutes of Atlantic City. Designer, Stephen Kay decided to pay tribute to famous European golf courses such as St. Andrew's in his design. The European influences are reflected in the open fairways, tricky strong winds, and undulating greens. The golf course also boasts the region's only 100-feet elevation changes.
McCullough's Emerald Golf Links' signature hole is the seventh; it is also the course's most unique. The hole features hazards like large bunkers and wide, rolling fairways. Water hazards also come into play on five holes. The acclaimed golf course is challenging but it does provide a truly unique golfing experience.

Challenging and Beautiful Links Course
Both of the times I golfed McCullough's the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The course was in great shape and each hole is based on a famous Celtic Isles links hole. Playing here was an overall enjoyable experience, even after a handful of three-putts on the tricky greens.
Fun course
Good shape, great pace. A few weak holes but all in all not bad course.
Great experience
Played many courses in the south jersey area and this course was great. Staff n operations was run smoothly n the courses was in good shape Would recommend to all if u like links-style design courses. I know it's not a true links but it gives a good feel for links golf. The day I played was windy so it added to the experience. Good course would defInnately play again
lay out
Good layout and excellent greens to putt on.
Worst experience ever in Southern NJ
Great conditions but we had a completely ruined day due to this nasty ranger who would not breakup a slow 5 some of drunken who was hitting 4 balls a person off each tee box. Yes I repeat a five some.
Instead ranger Jim decided to hawk my wife and I at each hole, telling us to keep our cart on the path and then the best was coming up to me at the 10th hole to tell me he was letting it go this time but was going to have to charge my wife for a riding fee. Never was this mentioned to us and it is just absurd. So Ranger Jim is more concerned about harassing nice people about riding fees then moving the play along or ensuring only 4 people to a grouping. So nasty it ruined it for me. Thanks Jim great job.
PS- on the last hole ranger Jim was no where to be seen and we has a young kid throwing balls at the golf carts as we were playing. Yes kids unattended at the bar throwing golf balls at the players carts as the parents are getting drunk on the balcony. No. I will never play here again. This ruined it for me, I will be telling all my friends and golfing acquaintances about this experience.
Awesome challenging course
Great challenging layout. Greens very very true and championship fast. Need tohit into them with precision or they will runn off, like the Us open.
Lots of interesting holes and driving is quite tight with all of tge dunes and significant elevations. Loved the course and how challenging it was. Great test of your game. May be the best in nj.
Staff exceptional. So courteous and helpful
Really nice clubhouse, great atmosphere and food and drink. Lots of specisls
First and last time.
We played this course for the first time as a Father's Day present. I have to say it was very different from any other course I have played.
First it is on an old landfill so be prepared it has no shade on it at all. (NO TREES). Second, they do not allow you to bring in coolers with beer. You have to buy any beer from them at $20 bucks for 6 beers. They say it's a law(BS)
As far as the course it self I have to say it was very well maintained. Tee boxes and greens were very nice as well as the fairways.
The problem I had with the course was there were no markers at all on the course. If it was not for the guys we got paired up with we would have had no idea on quite a few holes where to shoot. They should really put some markers out there showing each hole or at least put a course map in each cart. It is not that hard to do.
The other problem I had was the rate of play. It took us over 5 hours to play a round of golf. That is just ridiculous. We booked a 9:27am tee time. They called and asked us if 9:37am would be ok. I said that is fine. But then they put a big golf outing in front of us and then the ranger did nothing to move the play along. That was horrible. I love a good round of golf just like the next guy but over 5 hours is way to long.
So would I say play it? Well, if you don't mind buying your beer, and playing and extra long game of golf. Then bring some extra balls and some screen and have at it.
Ego Lounge
This course is nice well maintained track. Whoever is the head groundskeeper is doing great job, keep it up!!! From tee to green it's perfect, not a links course fan but I always play here cause of the conditions and staff are real friendly. Also to the guys at Ego lounge Dave, Joe & Jim thanks. It was a pleasure playin with u...Jay
Great track
The course looked in great shape from tee box to green. Greens were rolling True and fast.
A Unique New Jersey Course
This course is fun to play. No trees, but there's trouble off the fairways. There are some blind shots off the tee. The greens are exciting to putt. You don't find too many greens like these on public courses in New Jersey. They are fast and very undulating with great contours. Favorite holes, #7 par 4 with a split fairway, go left if you dare or play safe to the right. #8 par 4 with elevated tee nd a fairway that doglegs right and water down the left. # 15 plays down into a valley with a sharp dogleg right. It's short, but there is really nowhere to bail out.
Fun course
Fast greens day we played. Lots of wind. But, each hole was unique and many had highly elevated tees or greens. Much fun.
Great Course
Loved the links style layout - fun to play this type of course. Lots of bunkers
greens in great shape..........
played here twice in the last month and both times the greens were in great shape....fast and smooth....putting was a lot of fun. As usual...there was some wind which made it difficult to hold some of the greens.......all in all a great day for a great price.......will always come back.
The Emerald is a gem
Had an outstanding day of golf here . I had never played this course before today , was impressed to say the least ! Played 36 holes , 1st round as a single ,at 7:30 with the sun just rising over the course , stunning ... On the advise of the very friendly staff , I laid up more often then usual and was rewarded with a score of 82. Must have been the 1st one out because it felt like I had the course to myself all morning . Had a delicious lunch at the clubhouse overlooking the beautiful 18th , again the staff could not have been nicer . Played 2nd round paired up with a husband and wife duo , ( must be the course cause everyone I met was very friendly . ) again perfect conditions , and with the small knowledge gained in the morning , shaved 3 strokes off the front for a 39 , got a bit tired at the end though and faded . Limped in with an 85 .. I would recommend this course highly to anyone .
Great golf
I literally have no complaints about the emerald links I loved everything about it. The layout is great all the holes being modeled after holes from courses like royal troon, carnoustie, royal dornoch, and more. You most definately have yourself an interesting round with blind shots, large mounds, and fast true greens it was a blast I can't wait to go back.
Worth the drive
Played this course for the second time this year. I last played it back in May and the conditions were perfect. This time the course was considerably dryer (no rain in 3 weeks!). Based on the super dry conditions, I felt the course was in good shape. There were a few brown spots in some fairways and some greens under repair but most of the fairways and greens were in decent shape. Still worth the drive down the shore.
Great new jersey course
Great course, awesome layout, true greens, especially in New Jersey, you finally get your money's worth
great layout, beautiful links course
We were truly surprised by this course. What a great find. We will definitely return next year when vacationing in the area.
Great course but tough for first timers
Overall the course was in great shape. Some greens were rock hard (13 and 16) but that's my only complaint. Look on their site for deals. Usually it's 76 on weekend mornings but I booked far in advance and paid 61. Pace was slow (5 hrs) but I kind of expected it.
If you're reading this and about to play this course for the first time, you need to know that there are ALOT of blind shots and ALOT of tall grass that will eat your balls for lunch. Specifically:
7 is a beast, get over the waste bunker area at all costs. 11 has a sign that says to aim at the tower. It's a short hole and the rough is very thick. Since I couldn't see I just figured what the heck smash it and I hit a nice drive that faded a touch but I ended up losing it. Hit just enough to get over the hill (probably a hybrid/long iron for most folks.) 15 just hit a hybrid/long iron or even middle
Iron. Just get to the middle of the fairway and get a look at the green. Go for it if you want but it's further from the fairway than you think. 16 the green is very narrow.
I think that's it. I shot a 104 but I feel like if I played it again, a 95 is within my grasp. Great course if you know what to expect.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I spoke too soon. I played a second time here in past week and it was awful. Play so slow. Ranger clueless. Let 5 somes play together with excessive drinking holding up play for the whole course.
