McCullough's Emerald Golf Links
About
The golf course at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links is an 18-hole, public course that is situated within minutes of Atlantic City. Designer, Stephen Kay decided to pay tribute to famous European golf courses such as St. Andrew's in his design. The European influences are reflected in the open fairways, tricky strong winds, and undulating greens. The golf course also boasts the region's only 100-feet elevation changes.
McCullough's Emerald Golf Links' signature hole is the seventh; it is also the course's most unique. The hole features hazards like large bunkers and wide, rolling fairways. Water hazards also come into play on five holes. The acclaimed golf course is challenging but it does provide a truly unique golfing experience.

Too gimmicky and in mediocre condition
Forgot how little I like this course when I played there this time. Two big issues:
1) Course was in mediocre condition. Multiple greens had huge bare patches, and all were filled with divots unrepaired. Some tee boxes were, like the par 3 16th were entirely filled with long crab grass.
2) Way too many blind tee shots where you have no idea where to aim or how far to hit it. So essentially you guess, hit it well, and either can't find it or get penalized by landing in the rough. Simply unfair AND more importantly, unFUN for a round of golf.
I would suggest spending same dollars to play Mays Landing or spending a bit more to play Harbor Pines, Blue Herron, or the best course in area, Ballamor.
Excellent course, great value for the price
The course was in great condition, starter and Rangers were very friendly. Pace of play was excellent
Great course ... Just bad timing
Really cool course ... Only problem was that we got stuck behind a bacholrs party who every now and then would join a sixsome ... There was no real attempt to break them up or make them keep up the pace ... This made the overal round last a lot longer then it should have...
Great layout/value
This course was a great find while on vacation in OCNJ. We played it twice during our week down here, and loved the course. It is a true links layout with blind shots, fast greens, and breezy wide open conditions. It is a good course for any level of experience, and balances a challenge with an ability to score with smart shots off the tee. Overall enjoyable experience and cool change up to the normal golf course layout of the Philadelphia/Jersey Shore area.
Nice 18 hole track for the average golfer
Even with the recent rainfall this course held up great. The fairways and greens are in great shape and the pace of play was right around 4 hours for 18 holes. I would recommend this course to my friends.
RUFF
Course was in great shape had a great time with my son. One thing however, THE ROUGH IS MUCH TO LONG FOR THE
AVERAGE WEEKEND GOLFER.
Links course
Nice fairways and greens use irons and fairway woods to stay away from the roughs you will lose strokes if you hit in them.
Very Nice Course to Play
The folks at McCullough's are very welcoming and make the golf experience an enjoyable one. We played here while on vacation in Cape May and I must say it was worth the trip up to Egg Harbor. The course is in great shape. They keep play moving well in a friendly way. I'll play here again for sure.
5.5 hour round
Plenty of Ranger activity apologizing but nothing be done. Twisted Dunes a much better bet.
Bar is terrible
Ordered miller lite tap beer after our round of golf. In 2 glasses there was some kind of black stuff and in the other was a spider. The last guy did not knowand took a sip and said beer tasted sour. The course was in good shape though
OCNJ
Good location, conditions and fun holes. A great price for a great round and very friendly to us singles looking to get out early.
Great course fun time
Overall experience was great. Could not complain about anything but heat, of course it is July. Great greens well kept fairways, fantastic. Recommend to anyone.
Only elevation change you'll see down the shore..GREAT COURSE
I have played McCullough's several times before and the course conditions this time around were the best I've seen thus far. Quick but manageable pace and the ball stayed on line with no wavering. As it is built on an old landfill this course offers elevation changes that very few courses can offer down the shore. Challenging layout and unique design. After your round, stop in the Library III for a drink and food.
Will definitely come back to play again soon!
Wide-open spaces!
This place was in decent condition and fairly forgiving unless you find the high reed-grass or water. Greens were in decent shape. Reasonably varied layout.
Poor conditions
Too many swampy areas or tall grasses. Lost 6 balls- which ha never happened to me before. Also, it was difficult to follow the course. It was not clear where to aim because the flags were difficult to see
Great Value
A very challenging but fun course. Well worth the money. Only bad thing is the birds that attack you throughout the course.
Nice Course
A lot of blind shots, first time playing is very tough not knowing the distances/layout. Really enjoyed the layout, elevation changes and greens. Greens don't break as much as you think.
Will play again.
Great for the money
Nice course, diffent style makes it fun.
I would play again
Really like this course
With the extremely high greens fees in the area, this course is a good value. Challenging, great condition, nice greens. Will continue to play it multiple times per year.
fun course to play
this is a great place to go in the Atlantic City area if you catch it on a calm day you'll have a great time. remember it is a true links course mounds and no trees so it can be windy. if you do catch it on a calm day make sure you have bug spray.
