McCullough's Emerald Golf Links
About
The golf course at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links is an 18-hole, public course that is situated within minutes of Atlantic City. Designer, Stephen Kay decided to pay tribute to famous European golf courses such as St. Andrew's in his design. The European influences are reflected in the open fairways, tricky strong winds, and undulating greens. The golf course also boasts the region's only 100-feet elevation changes.
McCullough's Emerald Golf Links' signature hole is the seventh; it is also the course's most unique. The hole features hazards like large bunkers and wide, rolling fairways. Water hazards also come into play on five holes. The acclaimed golf course is challenging but it does provide a truly unique golfing experience.

Excellent course for the money!
I've played here a few times and I've always loved it. The holes are challenging, and the course is in great shape. The ranger harassed us about pace of play when it was clearly groups in front of us that were slowing down the pace. It was also a Saturday afternoon so the course was crowded. This did not take away from our overall experience, and I plan on returning several times over the summer.
Very Nice time
Course was in great condition, helpful staff keeping the pace of play moving along. Great bang for the buck with Golfnow hot deal.
Very Nice Course
Had a great experience on this course. Was in good shape, Starter was very nice and informative about many holes on the course. I would highly recommend it
McCulloughs Emerald Golf Links
Interesting links layout Fairways are tight so you need to throttle it down off the tee. Greens are undulating and in perfect shape. Staff is excellent, clubhouse is mix of locals and tourists. Food is great. No trees on the corse so bring your suntan lotion.
Great course, great challenge.
I've played this course once before, and it continues to live up to being one of the better courses down the shore. Each hole is modeled after famous European counterparts, which makes the experience that much better. Friendly staff, an overall good time.
enjoyable round
Its been almost 6 years since I had last played at McCulloughs and our round yesterday made for a nice day... The course is a fun course to play and in good shape... When playing here you get a real feel of British links golf as the even on a calm day there is wind. Almost every hole is wide open and exposed and we had 2 club winds on many holes .. The fairways can be quite narrow on many holes and hitting the fairways is crucial as the rough is extremely difficult and thick. The greens are very firm and you cant stick your short irons like on bent grass greens. The recommendation is to play short of the hole and let it roll up.. Most short putts roll dead straight here so if you can roll it straight you'll make a bunch here.. We played the white tees rather than the usual blues and it made for a feel good round that included a bunch of birdies and a near hole in one.. We were able to snag a 24 dollar rate for a 2pm time which really made for a fantastic value.. While not being one of the highest rated courses at the Jersey Shore... McCullough's brings fun and value for anyone..
a great surprise
I've played here many times over the last 15 years and have never seen the course in such great shape. The greens were in great condition especially the two holes across the street.
Great course for a good price.
Played the course 5 years back and what a change! Course was overplayed and burnt out. Yesterday it couldn't be in better shape. Elevation was the best part of the course. Suggestion ask the starter for tips if you are playing it for the first time and they will gladly give you valuable advice. One negative. Not about the course but of getting directions to the place. DO NOT USE the ones given to you after you make your reservation. Got me totally lost. 5 hour round a little long but why would that matter if your on a beautiful course.?
lots of fescue grass and pot bunkers . keep ball in fairway if possible
we over all enjoyed our round the wind kicked up so being first time players there we paid a huge price not knowing much about course or greens ... still worth a trip there to play as course was in great playing shape .............
British Open Type Course but NOT for casual golfers and unfriendly staff
Went to play with friends for a casual round of golf. The course is very challenging as the wind gets you on every hole. This course is definitely NOT for the casual golfer - rough is very high. Bring a lot of balls.
The staff is very unfriendly. The ranger was scolding us even though we were a 3-some and there was a 2-some ahead of us and behind us and then no one else. Also at the end of the round, we could not take the carts to our car to drop off the golf bags. By mistake one of the carts in our party did and got scolded.
Not for casual golfers
Went with friends for a casual round. Rangers were very rude even though there we were a threesome and there was a twosome ahead of us and the twosome behind us was a hole behind. Conditions were very windy and challenging even at the end of May. Staff would not let us take the cart to our car to drop off the golf bags and went after one cart who by mistake went directly to the car. Very disappointing experience overall. Rest assured due to the staff and the difficulty of the course we will not choose this course again. Don't waste your money unless you are a very serious golfer.
nice day
I got to the club in a lull so they let me go off solo shorly after a twosome. I caught them not trying to on thefifth hole and they let me play through. Caught a three some of a cart girl and twofriends on eight and I got ahead of them at the turn but a foursome I caught on 11 with nobody in front of them would not let me play through so I ended up olaying with Emily and her two frnds. It was a fun day. Like the course.
Fun course
Fun links - style course. Pace of play on a holiday was right at 4 hours. Plan on the wind playing a role in your round. Lost a few balls in the rough, but the course is very fair and the rough is not too penal.
Slow play....
Extremely slow play by group in front of us kind of taints my experience. Despite two calls to clubhouse rhe ranger did nothing to move things along. Good course for the price.
Sometimes slow play cannot be avoided but the course has a responsibility to move things along.
This is not a course I will go back to any time soon.
Beautiful course
All in all a great day. Organized a group of 9 for bachelor party weekend, some golfers some first timers. Staff for most part was accommodating, only problem we had was with ranger. He kept riding over to us to speed up failing to realize the group ahead of us was the ones holding us up, never went to them. After a while he left us alone and we were finally able to enjoy the course. Paid $46 including cart per golfer, couldn't ask for a better fee especially on such a beautiful course and it really made the weekend.
Friendly staff but the wind was howling
Great layout and will test your skills on every aspect. Wind was blowing about 20mph which made it a 1-2 club extra. Greens were areated 5 days ago but was not listed on Golfnow, was dissapointed about that.
Staff were very friendly and I would recommend this go course.
Course Rangers
The course rangers were rushing us. The group behind us was a hole and a half behind. Group in front of us was a hole ahead. It made it not fun and almost ruined the experience. At one point was being followed for an entire hole. They were not helpful. They wonder why people aren't coming out in droves to play golf it's b/c people are made to feel uncomfomfortable and not welcomed. Course is great, really beautiful and well kept. Each hole is tailored after a famous hole in Ireland and Scotland. Great for players who are of moderate skill level.
Nice links course
I thought this was a very good course. The layout was nice with some interesting holes. Well maintained fairways and greens although the greens were firmer and faster then I'm used to. It was busy that day so the round was a little longer then I expected. I would play again.
great course
Played for 2nd time and was very tough with stiff wind blowing all day.
great round of golf and course condition was excellent
back again next month
Best shape ever for McCullough's
This course has had its ups and downs for conditions, but it's in the best shape I've seen since it opened about a decade ago. If their prices stay in the 40-60 range, you got to get out there and play it.
