Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
About
The Highlands Course is probably the more stimulating of the two tracks at Wildcat GC, offering better views of the city, natural wetlands and grasses, and some intriguing flat sand bunkers. Case must have an affinity for the No. 7, because like the Lakes track, the 421-yard, par 4 hole 7 is the most difficult rated hole. Watch out for the par 5s on this one, three of which play at or above 570 yards from the tips.
Getting there : From downtown take Hwy. 288 south for 5 miles to Loop 610. Head west and find the Fannin exit, where you'll U-turn under 610 and drive east on the access road to Almeda Rd. Turn right on Almeda and the course is 3 miles further.

Play here
Always worth it to play the Highlands course. Makes you select shots. No driver, driver ,driver. Got to place a.shot.
Always worth it to play here.
Beautiful Greens, Solid Round
Course was great today. Windy out which turned into a lot of ink on the scorecard, but the greens were the highlight of the day. Fast, slightly firm, flawless. Some tee boxes over seeded well with winter rye (or some variant) and the fairways cut tight as well.
My only beef is $6 for a small bucket of balls. Clubhouse staff who checked us in wasn’t friendly, but not rude. Just there, I suppose.
Overall, great round. Will try the lakes next time we play.
Be Prepared to Wait
While it's a very good golf course, the pace of play made it tough to enjoy the round. Our group waited on the group in front of us for all eighteen holes. Many times we would drive up to the tee box to find them just teeing off. Greens were good shape and fast but in the end just too much waiting.
NICE COURSE
Elevations were fun & challenging. ALL Greens were in Great shape & fast. Drink girl was very visible & friendly. Course was well taken care of. Continue special pricing & we’ll be back.
Wildcat Highlsnfs course
This course was in fantastic shape. Greens were fast and the entire course was properly manicured. Played on Sunday afterward, pace pof play was in good.
Challenge in the Highlands
NCourse has a great layout. The elevations make you work for a low score. Not many water hazards. Greens in great shape and challenging
Beautiful course with a few wrinkles
Fun round but a couple of holes are near impossible for a senior or 18 plus handicapper.
Girl in the restaurant didn’t seem to want to serve us breakfast. She would rather just give people the premade breakfast burritos. Other than that the service was good although the cart guy did lose her car keys for a short time but he found them
Well kept track
Nice layout, fairways in decent shape and green in good form.
September 8, 2019
Course is in excellent condition. Greens are the best of any of played this year
Pace
Great conditions, course is wide open, challenging holes, some holes are hidden.. will definitely play again and again..
Disappointing
I have played both Wildcat courses a lot and had my first bad experience. It was a Friday, one of their "premier" days, but the greens had been aerated recently and had not been mowed. The greens were bumpy, slow, and unpredictable. That happens because of necessary green maintenance, but we paid top dollar on a "premier" day and were not told of the condition of the greens. I would have played elsewhere had I known beforehand about the greens. That said, I will play there again because I really like the place.
Play here
Greens have been punched and sanded, which have to be done. But they roll good and it will only get better. My only complaint is the pace, Marshall's ride around but the pace didn't imorove.. During the week, great place. Weekend, expect 5 hours.
Worth it
Course is almost always in great shape. They have recently punched and sanded the greens, normal maintenance, must do. The greens still roll good although a little slow today. Pace was slow to start but picked up. Played today in less than 5 hours.
Good track
One of the best public course options and most expensive on S/SE side of town. If you can pick up a round in the $30's or less it is a great value. Drastically different feel from the Lakes course, and a better course/layout/design, in my opinion. Pretty easy and gettable from the whites, where I play, so I typically play some of my best golf here. Couple of the guys in the group played farther back and it seemed like it would be much more difficult from farther back. Without a good discount I'll look somewhere else, especially considering I'm driving 45 minutes or so, but with a good price, I'm always happy to go! Based on this and past experiences, I believe ownership is looking to take care of their customers. Always a treat to play Highlands.
Wildcat lakes course
This was a great challenge, beautiful views, long enough to require the use of every club in your bag and was in great condition. There was a lot of water hazards as the name suggests so you really need to be on top of your game or you could lose a lot of balls.
We had a couple slow groups in front of us which made the round longer than necessary and we paid to play the highlands course but somehow was put out onto the lakes course.
Other than that the experience was absolutely amazing.
