Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
About
The Highlands Course is probably the more stimulating of the two tracks at Wildcat GC, offering better views of the city, natural wetlands and grasses, and some intriguing flat sand bunkers. Case must have an affinity for the No. 7, because like the Lakes track, the 421-yard, par 4 hole 7 is the most difficult rated hole. Watch out for the par 5s on this one, three of which play at or above 570 yards from the tips.
Getting there : From downtown take Hwy. 288 south for 5 miles to Loop 610. Head west and find the Fannin exit, where you'll U-turn under 610 and drive east on the access road to Almeda Rd. Turn right on Almeda and the course is 3 miles further.

July 7th
Course is in excellent condition. Greens and fairways played great. Waited at a couple tee boxes but not long. 4 hours 20 mins. If I had any complaints it would be the driving range. The driving area was wet and soft. Couldn’t really hit anything that wasn’t on a tee. But really, that was minor.
Challenging but fun course
A lot of up and down elevation changes. The course is definitely challenging but a fun one to play. Definitely recommend to others.
Play here
Always nice, always maintained. Worth the money. Play the Highlands course, more challenging.
Rain shortened round
Played the Highlands at Wildcat- First time.
Overall, really enjoyed the course, but would have enjoyed much more if I had played it once before..There are a couple of funky holes where your drive looks perfect, and then once you get over a hill, you find you've gone through the fairway into knee to shoulder high rough= lost ball! Oddly, seems like you need to hit an iron or hybrid off the tee on a couple of par 5s! Otherwise, it was a fun course, and in very good shape! We only got through 13 holes before lightning struck nearby...and we headed for the clubhouse.
Right Tee
Course in great condition. Green fast and true. Fairways perfect-wish everybody would repair their divots.
Only issue was some traps needing repair.
Yes typical windy conditions.
Play the correct tees for a better experience!!!
Good layout
Golf course is in good shape, the greens were rolling well but I just wish that you could see more of the fairways from the tees.
Great experience
Quirky holes with long carries makes the second shots on holes 7-9 and 17 tough. Playing forward a tee box is they key to better score on these holes.
Challenging and fun
we enjoy the short par 4s and the undulation of both the course, and the greens. The greens are fast and challenging.
Wildcat -Highlands course
In Town from Phoenix for spring break. Got the opportunity to squeeze in a round between family activities. Selected the course base off of previous reviews which were on the money. Course is in excellent shape! Greens in great condition and rolled true. Really impressed with all of the changes in elevations. I would of thought I was playing elsewhere If I didn’t see downtown Houston on every hole! Can’t wait to play it again!
Great course
Have played lakes course multiple times but this was the first time playing Highlands. Played on a cold windy Sunday at lunchtime after some morning rain, and finished in 3 1/2 hours. Both courses are in good shape with healthy greens except for the bunkers, they could use a little help. Only real difference in the two courses is more elevation changes on Higlands and a lot more water on the Lakes course. Would recommend both courses to anyone visiting Houston and wants to play a course close to downtown.
