Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
About
The Highlands Course is probably the more stimulating of the two tracks at Wildcat GC, offering better views of the city, natural wetlands and grasses, and some intriguing flat sand bunkers. Case must have an affinity for the No. 7, because like the Lakes track, the 421-yard, par 4 hole 7 is the most difficult rated hole. Watch out for the par 5s on this one, three of which play at or above 570 yards from the tips.
Getting there : From downtown take Hwy. 288 south for 5 miles to Loop 610. Head west and find the Fannin exit, where you'll U-turn under 610 and drive east on the access road to Almeda Rd. Turn right on Almeda and the course is 3 miles further.

Wind can be a challenge at Wildcat
Windy afternoons on Highlands Course can be a challenge when your gusting in the 20mph+ range. Greens are starting to grow now, but still never shaggy really and roll smooth. A few very quirky holes on this 18, but overall a good value for under $50 on weekend.
Good round
Wildcat Highlands is a good course overall except for 3 ridiculous holes(7,9 and 15). Obsession for par 72's courses provokes this kind of holes. Course conditions were good as usually here(except for the bunkers that is the great forgotten in course maintenance worldwide). Pace of play was ok until the last few holes were we had to wait more than 10 minutes on the tee
Nice Course, Better Staff
Course offered a challenging layout that was fun to play. Not as manicured as other high end course in the area, but definitely above average. Staff was amazing, friendly and accommodating. Will play again!
No real trouble
Condition was great, Starter was great (let me skip ahead 2 groups to play solo instead of paired with high handicap members), no real trouble for the lay out, only 1 200+yd par 3. Overall a relaxing round, but I’d rather play the lakes course.
Cold and Windy with Great Conditions
It was about 47deg outside and blowing a solid 10-15mph, but hey new years eve golf... why not. This course is always well maintained. Greens were fast and smooth, somewhat dormant now but still appeared to be cut. Course was fairly crowded, but pace was under 4hrs easy, and most other days pace is under 3hrs. Can't go wrong with Wildcat for the location, cost and conditions.
The greens are in excellent shape and fast!
The Highlands Course is a challenging course with well maintained greens and fairways. A few blind shots which require some prior research.
Best course in Central Houston vicinity
For all the people inside the loop, or those who don't want to drive up to Spring or Humble, this is hands down the best golf course there is.
The grounds are very well taken care of, with the exception of some greens. But I blame that on non courteous golfers who apparently don't bother to fix their divots.
Anyway, the course is amazing, we always have a great time here. They have gained a customer for life.
Beautiful course
Unique course with none like it in the Houston area!
Greens are great!
Course full of people so play was slow. Greens putted true and were soft enough to hold shots. Enjoyable course to play.
Easy access, great condition.
WC Highlands, just a few minutes south of I610 South Loop. Open links style course with varying elevations. Greens, tees, and fairways all in good condition. Challenging, but fair layout. Great views of Downtown Houston in distance. You have to think out strategy and execute on every hole. Good food and drink in the grill. Well staffed.
Worth a trip
From the Pro Shop to the 18th green, everything was first class. Course was in great shape and service top notch. Well worth playing
