About
Architect Roy Case created both courses on this new 36-hole, daily-fee facility that is located only 10 minutes from downtown Houston. In addition to the views of the skyline, Case had at his disposal a touch of Hill Country terrain with dramatic elevation changes, as well as the typical Houston- area prairie lands. From this he was able to carve the links-style Highlands Course and the more traditional Lakes Course.
As its name implies, the Lakes Course, which tips out at a par 72 7,016 yards, is loaded with water. The best hole is the 539-yard No. 7, which is listed as the number one handicap. Interestingly, the four easiest holes are the par 3s, which range from 165 to 218 yards.

Dazed and Confused
It had been three years since I played the Lakes at Wildcat. Yet I did remember where the first tee had been moved…next to the water in back of the club house. The trouble was my golf watch still used the back nine as the front nine. It was blind man’s bluff until I figured it out by the third hole. The next bit of confusion, playing the white tees, was how some par 4 holes were at par five length while other par fives played like par fours. I don’t normally make three birdies. I was up to the challenge and bogeyed the monster par 4s. My game has improved in three years, getting an 81 after seeing 93 there that last time.

Solid xourse
Solid course. Very fun. Lots of water and elevation change. Play with someone who knows it well or feel the pain.

First time on the course. Layout is one that you better play with trustworthy experience partners or prepare to struggle. Find that this course has way too many blind, trick shots. If wind is howling, it really is frustrating.
Want to play it again, but waiting for winds to settle down if they ever do.

Solid course
Great course. Challenging layout especially if you are not familiar with holes given blind shots. Couple green issues here and there but greens roll true.

Lakes Reverse Hole Changes
I like the reverse hole changes on the Lakes course. Glad I played it today and became familiar with the new changes and will now be familiar when playing the Dan Ewing Memorial Tournament in a few weeks.

Must Play at least Once
Love the views and elevation. Great view of Reliant stadium, Astrodome and downtown. Greens are undulating.
This course takes a few times playing to know where ti hit it.
Points of contact were all positive and happy.
I have played here many times and it is really different from your average Houston course.
Played the Lakes yesterday. A few of the greens had some scrunge on them, but overall in decent shape.

Wet and windy
Had rainy and windy conditions which is not unusual.
Winter conditions with wet and tight fairways. Greens were good except some repair work-doesn’t affect your putting.
Tee off during light rain so nobody else’ was on tee box.
Like Highland better, fewer force carries and way least water.
Still enjoyable round.

Fun Course, Great Condition
Really fun course layout with a lot of elevation changes. The white tees are very short, so if you usually play white tees, consider playing from the blues. Really friendly staff, and excellent pace of play (albeit the weather was in the 40’s).

Always a good play
Very good course layout with fun Tee Shots. Greens were good but a little faster than I remembered. Pins were somewhat unfair for most players this day as their were multiple pins in very hard locations close to the edge and you had to approach wisely. This made birdies very hard to get on this day. #17 was 7' off the back edge. Wind was not bad, but greens were drying out and flying down grain down hill.
