About
Architect Roy Case created both courses on this new 36-hole, daily-fee facility that is located only 10 minutes from downtown Houston. In addition to the views of the skyline, Case had at his disposal a touch of Hill Country terrain with dramatic elevation changes, as well as the typical Houston- area prairie lands. From this he was able to carve the links-style Highlands Course and the more traditional Lakes Course.
As its name implies, the Lakes Course, which tips out at a par 72 7,016 yards, is loaded with water. The best hole is the 539-yard No. 7, which is listed as the number one handicap. Interestingly, the four easiest holes are the par 3s, which range from 165 to 218 yards.

Decent Shape
Course was tougher than I remember. Not bad though. Cart service was great but didn’t have a lot of items. Food was solid in the clubhouse but the server definitely didn’t want to be at work that day. Miserable

Worth playing
Tees and fairways and great shape. Greens roll true but slow. Don't know why they slowed the greens down, but they aren't my favorite. Once they cut them back down and speed them up...it will be a top ten in the Houston area.

Good value and pace of play
With so many courses either closing or in terrible condition I was very pleased with the Lakes course. Despite the recent monsoon the fairways were generally solid and greens good.

Lakes/Highlands has never let me down. Always up for the challenge of Lakes, and if I need to feel better about myself, still love to play Highlands.

Great course, tough layout but still recovering
I played the Lakes course several times for scramble tournaments in the past but it’s been over 5 years, and never kept a personal score. Let’s just say its a really tough course if your not familiar with it. The course was in “generally “ decent shape but many of the green are damaged or portions under repair due to winter storms.
I got a golf now hot deal of 43- bucks. Which I thought was a fair price, but the course has definitely seen better days. Staff and clubhouse amenities are great.

What does a marshal do?
I like Wildcat. On this day we had a group in front of us playing super slow. Seems like they had a group meeting over every shot? There were no groups in front of them and the course was backed up and waiting on every shot behind them? Saw marshals, driving around, talking on their phone, talking to each other. But not speeding this group; up, made NO SENSE.
So while all this waiting is going on the group behind my group hits into us on three occasions, the last time as we are walking off the green. I not so nicely let them know they needed to pull their head out of...their cart.
Wildcat, get your act together! I will need to let you patient types play here, I'm out!

Challenging layout; slow greens
The greens are recovering nicely from the freeze, but they are super slow.

We arrived with a Golfnow reservation and could play immediately.
The golf cart is really top.
The layout is nice and quite difficult for beginners but challenging and excellent for others.
