Architect Roy Case created both courses on this new 36-hole, daily-fee facility that is located only 10 minutes from downtown Houston. In addition to the views of the skyline, Case had at his disposal a touch of Hill Country terrain with dramatic elevation changes, as well as the typical Houston- area prairie lands. From this he was able to carve the links-style Highlands Course and the more traditional Lakes Course.

As its name implies, the Lakes Course, which tips out at a par 72 7,016 yards, is loaded with water. The best hole is the 539-yard No. 7, which is listed as the number one handicap. Interestingly, the four easiest holes are the par 3s, which range from 165 to 218 yards.

Doesn’t get any better.

The best course I’ve ever played and at and it isn’t even close, I called the pro shop the minute they opened and Marcus was super friendly helped explain in detail any and every question I had. Even walked me to the carts and 1st hole. The starter was very friendly as well I think they call him Hightower, very personable and let me know about what I had ahead of me. A few holes in a nice cart girl by the name of Shelby (I think) maybe that was another person Was happy to help with whatever I needed, basically from start to finish, before I played and when I got done everyone including the manager was extremely friendly, the guys in the pro shop were joking around and the manager came in and chimed in on the fun. I Would definitely recommend this course!

Great course but rough is too high

Course is in great shape and it's extremely challenging, but the rough is so tall you can't find your ball sometimes.

I'm all for challenging conditions, but it kills the rhythm of the round when you can't find a ball that you know didn't go into a hazard.

No Name

Nice, challenging golf course here. Too much torpedo grass however. I guess the cost to owners from the pandemic situation prohibited the use but need for chemicals to destroy the fast growing stuff. The greens were slower than expected. More bermudagrass and less torpedo would be normal.

Fun in the sun, with my son

Picked the hottest , muggiest day of the week, but had a great time. A bit disappointed that there was no notice that the driving range was closed, but the starter was able to get us on earlier, thanks to a no-show foursome. Beverage cart came by four times, which kept us hydrated and the Marshal checked on us twice (both folks were very friendly). It had been a couple of years since we played here last, so appreciate the new cart setup and the course was in excellent shape (sand in some of the traps was a bit tamped down, likely due to all the rain). We will be back soon

A Bad Day

Not the first time I’ve played the course but sadly the last. Such a pretty course with a fun and challenging layout. Course conditions were fairly nice today. Pace of play and the Marshalls/starters/pro shop’s ambition to fix or alleviate the problem were nonexistent. Listened to the Marshall get yelled at by a scramble group for 5 minutes while waiting 3 groups back on a tee box. Front 9 took 2 hours 45 minutes, took approx. 45 minutes to play 10&11 before deciding to leave. Group in front of us drove a cart onto the fringe of our green to try and pick up a fairway shot we hit up and off the back. Maybe because the cart girl sold the group 24 beers on hole 5 that were finished by hole 10 and their awareness depleted, I’m not sure. If you can get out here when the course is very open it’s well worth it, if it seems like it’s busy at all, buckle up for your 5.5 hour + long round.

Challenging with rare elevation changes

It was a wet, sloppy, muddy round post-Beryl so it's hard for me to give the course a fair rating. It was my first time playing it in nearly a decade so I've been overdue. Course is always challenging and I like the fact that it has elevation changes unlike practically every other Houston area course. Some of the blind shots can be a bit frustrating, though. I'm looking forward to getting back out there again on a drier day.

Good Condition and Challenging

The staff and facilities are excellent and take good care of you. The course (Lakes) is in excellent condition especially considering we were hit by hurricane Beryl 3 days ago. The greens rolled a little slow but true, the fairways were mowed and clear of debris with good grass. The rough was a little shaggy but that’s what rough is supposed to be. Most of the bunkers had been reconditioned after the storm and the remaining ones were being worked on. There was a very slow foursome in front of us who ignored the marshalls. Once we skipped a hole to,get around them we played in less than 4 hours. My main complaint is that the course presents you with many blind shots. So if you don’t know the course well it is easy to get out of position and leave yourself with difficult recovery shots leading to big scores. Also many holes require a long carry over trouble off the tees. As players in our 70s we should have moved up from the White tees to shorter tees but we were not advised well by the starter about what to expect. One more note, there are few trees and little shade on this course so be prepared for intense sun and heat in summer. Finally, great views of NRG Stadium and downtown Houston, and nice breezes, on the high points of the course.
