Colorado National Golf Club

I played the course for the fifth time with my son on his birthday. The weather was fantastic for this time of the year and the course was in good plus condition for this time of the year. The greens are difficult and some of the pin placements were really difficult. We had good round.

The home of the Colorado Buffaloes Golf Team is quite a ways from campus, but it has plenty of scenic views of the mountains.

Colorado National is surrounded by houses, but I did not find that the neighborhood encroached much on the course. There is plenty of room to swing freely on most holes. I did not find the course to be terribly interesting, but it is a fun play with good variety. There are a couple of fun short par 4s, especially the 17th which has a long forced carry if you want to go for the green. This course also has a great closing hole that requires a good drive to be in position to carry the lake in front of the green.

We played about a week after the greens were punched and they are still healing, slow and bumpy. The course was also saturated with water on many parts making it pretty spongy in many places. The rough on the course was very healthy, especially on the back nine where it had not been cut recently. I was better off in the native areas than in the rough. It was very difficult to advance the ball very far out of the rough.

Colorado National is a solid option north of Denver, and should be in pretty good shape in the next couple of weeks when the greens heal up.

This is a really nice course but since we're not pros, we found the rough to be too high where you could not see the top of the ball. Obviously this slowed play and made scoring difficult. The service and food were excellent but we needed some relief from the heat and the clubhouse couldn't accommodate.

We got rained and hailed on at hole 6, went back to the clubhouse because the course and greens were soaked. Asked for a rain check, but each of us only got a $20 credit back.

The morning of, we knew weather would be questionable, but we were already passed the cancellations window and had no option to get our full money back if we opted out of playing.

Course and value are great, it was just an interesting scenario and I wish it could’ve worked out better in our favor.

Fairways, greens and bunkers are all in great shape. Staff are great. Fun place to play.

I always enjoy playing this course a few times a year. It is challenging, but fun and fair. They keep the course in fantastic shape and the staff are very friendly.

Will definitely play again. Overall condition was excellent. Nice course and layout.

This is a great course! The only problem was paying $60 at 5:15 pm and not having anyone out making sure the pace of play was being done! It was real slow! Was not able to finish all 18.

Played the black which was too long for me.

Was still able to get a few pars. Fairways are wide but if you miss, you will be penalized.

Greens were a bit slow but true.
