Walked

First time on this course. Understandably the course has yet to catch up with its full maintenance regime due to covid. however this is still a great course and a big challenge. Very long course and the long grass in places and unforgiving rough added to the challenge,. Despite this it was good value for money.

Poor condition

Second time playing the course today. Compared to the great conditions I played in 2 years ago, the course seems to have let itself down somewhat. The course appears overgrown in large parts and the greens were in terrible condition full of moss and bobbles. As for the bunkers, the less said about those the better. Such a shame that a once great course has come to this. Serious TLC needed in order to stop this course going down the pan.

Conditions

Having played this great course I was dismayed to see the conditions of it .Bunkers overgrown and greens patchy and bare. Not a greenkeeper in site .Owners should hang their heads in shame.

Greens are appalling

Fairways were nice. Rough was heavy and quite harsh. Bunkers need a lot of attention. Greens were probably the worst I have ever seen. Other courses at this time are in much better condition.

Tough times

Great location and course for long hitters but in these early stages of recovery the course requires a lot of TLC.

Birthday round of golf for my son

Hard to give an honest review of this course and facilities due to the circumstances of covid 19.So here it is.

Very friendly member of staff who explained how the course was playing,eg bunkers were classed as gur ,landed in a few ,not many people taking care of course but apart from some greens being a little bit sparse of grass and bumpy it was a lovely course to play, smashin setting ,score could have been better or a lot worse due to green condition as i said .

This is a course you need to play a few times to get the right line for the second/third shot and i would recommend this to anyone who likes a challenge

There are not many courses i have played that i would like to play again but this is definately one of them and for the price of a round its good value for money,oh before i forget great to have a tee thats level /flat ,makes a big difference when teeing off

A jewel in the crown

Never get tired playing at Cardrona, fantastic course and the location and scenery is beautiful.. You always receive a warm welcome from the staff in the pro shop who are very friendly and helpful. The condition of the course is some what below it’s usual standard because of lockdown but this shouldn’t put anyone off returning here, wish I lived closer to Peebles as I would take out a membership.

Very disappointed

Having played Cardrona several times I was really shocked at how poor the course has become. Granted we have been in isolation running with reduced Staff but when compared to other courses in the area Cardrona is in shocking conditions. Greens are damaged beyond repair with disease all over the surface. Border line unplayable greens which is a great shame as the course layout is so good.

Nice course, but needs a bit of tlc after lockdown

Really like this course as it has some great holes. Love the location amongst the hills and by the river. It does need a bit of upkeep at the moment, but hopefully sorted soon.

Good winter golf

The course was surprisingly dry. The greens had been holotyned and rolled flat so putting was pretty true, if a bit slow , but it is January.

The professional was very welcoming.

Long but worth a visit

Played as a two ball Saturday afternoon at 2.

36pm and got round in four hours. Paid £18.00 each. Never been to a course where there was not one set of tees under 6000 yards. The red tees are over that distance and that's a long course for most club ladies. This is a good layout in the river Tweed floodplain. There is a public footpath going through it and whilst this is not a problem the number of dog and other walkers just wandering along the golf course could be. Wide generous fairways and some long par 3's. Tees ando fairways in great condition and greens looked threadbare but played ok. Been quite dry so fairways ran a bit not sure how wet it gets in winter as right alongside river. If in the area would definitely recommend as a venue. Staff in pro shop were friendly. Can't comment on food or bar as did not have time to use them. Have to say the hotel itself could do with a spruce up. Would happily play again

Leafy Cardrona

We played on a day when storm force winds and rain showers were forecast. We had a very warm welcome in the pro shop, the lady offered us the option of coming in after nine holes and giving us a voucher to come back! That was before we had even teed off.

The wind was quite strong and gusty but it was playable. The greens were running quite well and we enjoyed the round. There were several of the greetings the back nine which wee were covered in leaves and other debris off the trees, and presumably because the course was very quiet (we saw a few groups coming out a few holes after we had started, there was no effort made tot clear these. It was also a little disappointing to find when we had finished, that there seemed to be no equipment to wash the golf trolley and clean the leaves and light mud off

the wheels or golf shoes. We went into the hotel after the round to get a cup of coffee and maybe a bite to eat, but the bar was very busy, there were no empty seats and a queue at the bar waiting to be serviced. We tried the downstairs bar but no one was serving there.
