Calling this a 'hilly' course is an understatement! This course is not for the faint-hearted or those easily winded, but in the end it has its rewards. The clubhouse is located about midway up the hill. From the 1st tee you can see 4 or 5 holes leading back down the hill and around through the valley and back up toward the clubhouse. Then the fun begins. The 10th hole begins a series of holes that carries you to the top, straight up the hill, the only thing flat on some of these holes are the tee boxes! At the top you play several holes along the rim of the hill. Here you get your reward for the effort. From the top you get a spectacular view of the Borders and surrounding countryside. The finishing holes are all downhill. This is worth a trip especially if the weather is clear. Galashiels is another of the many courses in Scotland where often during the year they use the honour box system. You put your money in a door box and play. No tee time, no starter, no ticket. If you have the time Torwoodlee Golf Club is a mile down the road and also worth a look. (Frank Faragalli)

First timer on this course.

Nice little golf course. Only 9 holes with alternative tee box’s for 18. I only played 9. Club house not open when I arrived at 1540. So never had a score card or at least I never found one.

First hole is straight up a hill, should have brought my trolley!

A few others on the course, but never got held up once.

The course layout is good with some challenging holes.

At the time of year the green were ok.

I’d definitely play again.

This was an off chance round when I was in the vicinity.

Incredible Value

9 incredible holes for £10. Set in a stunning part of the world, it is hilly and every hole has its challenge as a result. Few hazards and big fairways make it somewhat forgiving whilst still a big challenge with the hills. The course was in exceptional condition. A small clubhouse was unattended and few people playing but meant I could enjoy the course with no pressure. Needed Hole 19 to score and help ejthbthe layout though as I couldnt get a scorecard and some holes are blind from the tee box. For the quality of course and practice facilities, £10 is incredible. I'd happily pay double that and not feel short changed.

Great Sunday Morning

Played with 3 family members on a quiet Sunday morning. Course in great condition. Not as hilly as I was expecting given some comments from friends who had played beforehand. Lungs got a little workout on two holes, first and last but nothing excessive. Greens superb

Beautiful course, well kept and great views

Unfortunately we did not get score cards so we were a bit confused about which flags to play etc. it was also disappointing not to have access to ladies toilets. But overall the course was great and we thoroughly enjoyed playing the hilly, challenging course

Hard Work

I didn’t enjoy playing here, the course was hard work more akin to hillwalking than golf. Hole 1 is like a ski slope (no joke) and you’re at the bottom. Hole 2 is like a ski slope and you’re at the top. Like many of the holes the 3rd is a blind shot to the green uphill. From the 4th you’re into the meat of the course where the fairways are very hard to stay on due to the severe slopes with more blind shots into the greens. I wouldn’t recommend this course, I was warned before playing it but thought my friend was exaggerating, he wasn’t. The course is well kept and the greens are good but unless you’re willing to sweat buckets stay clear.

Unfriendly

We had a tee off time at 9am and after arriving early we had a look around and nobody was to be seen. We were on the 1st tee and somebody shouted to us that the course was closed until 9am. We were made to wait 9 minutes before starting. Then on the 18th tee we were warned by group behind us that we should not have been playing of white tees. If this was the case then a sign should be displayed at first tee to advise of this and somebody should have been at premises to greet us knowing we had a 9am time booked!

As we are from NL where everything is flat, we had some difficulty in adapting our game to the very hilly course. We think the course is beautifully integrated in the wonderful Scottish landscape. The views were fantanstic. The course itself was in good shape with very good greens. After the round of 9 holes we had a nice chat with one of the members, who showed us some chipping-tricks on an ondulated green, which was rarther nice..

We did an online booking through GolfNow and got a good deal. We were just passing through on our way home and it fitted perfectly. We had a wonderful golf experience

Gem

Gem of a golf course and typical James Braid design. Some challenging small holes and few long sweeping fairways. Delightful!

It's only 9 holes.

It was windy and raining when I played and I was alone on the course. it's 9 holes with some different tees.

Hilly but good condition.

The club house was closed no access to toilets or changing facilities and nowhere to get a drink or something to eat.

Lovely 9 hole course

Galashiels Golf Course is a great little track that provides something different to for the golfer. The course is always in great condition, even during the winter.
It's usually pretty quiet as well so its great for beginners and juniors to come and play. There's also practice facilities behind the first tee - something that's rare in the borders.

Definitely worth a visit for the views alone!!

For less than a tenner a head, you really can't beat it.
