Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.

A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.

Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Pumpherston Golf Club

I really enjoyed this course. For my level, there was a great mix of easy and difficult holes. Got caught out with the water hazards more than once but down to not knowing the course. Greens were in great condition. Will definitely be back.

Course in good nick for early May. Greens good, some patches on fairways and tees but nothing to worry about. Shame there's no catering at the moment but we have this issue at many other Scottish courses. Certainly worth the £20 each we paid.

Fantastic value for money

Course was in fantastic condition, starter was friendly and helpful and even had the pleasure of playing along side 2 members for the front 9 to help us with some course knowledge. Great value for money and will most definitely be back!

Brilliant layout disappointed in course

Brilliant course always enjoy playing it but today was told full course open on normal golf conditions, weather is incredible today. Yet after the first hole there’s winter mats on the tee boxes. Very poor to be lied to at clubhouse.

They have normal tees in the 1st and 9th but mostly the rest are all from mats. 1st April weather been brilliant this week aswell.

Lovely course

Due to the time of year the ground was very wet, the greens however are in great condition, good signage pointing out the way round the course and some pretty challenging holes. Definitely one I would want to return to in the better weather. Think a summer course would look stunning.

Lovely course!

Really enjoyed playing Pumpherston, greens were in great condition, still quite wet in the rough and fairways, to be expected in Scotland in March. Enjoyed my round, a bargain for £11. Will be back!

Great course!

Checked in at the pro shop where staff were very friendly then headed to the 1st tee box where there was a 3 ball waiting to tee off who kindly let me go in front as I was playing solo. A fantastic course with a nice mixture of par 3,4 and 5’s. Greens were absolutely immaculate for the time of year and there’s some beautiful features on this course. A great round of golf and will definitely be back! Highly recommend playing here.

Good course

February round with Full Greens, fairways in play with matts after drive area, meaning some approach shots from the fairway. Greens in really good condition considering the bad weather.

Really enjoyable round.
