Niddry Castle Golf Club

About
Niddry Castle Golf Club offers 18 holes of par-70 golf over 5,914 yards, providing a good course for all levels and ability of player. Magnificent vistas provide a glimpse of the Pentland Hills, and the holes all offer their own unique tests and hazards - plus there's a castle smack-dab in the middle. If you can control your shots and manage a solid golf course, then this patch of parkland ought to be on your itinerary for any golf trip to Scotland.
Fire away at Cannons Drive, the Niddry Castle Golf Club's 198-yard par-3 first hole, featuring a green that slopes away. The long hole is the sixth, Castle View, a par-5 524-yarder - pick right or left of the fairway at the tee to avoid sticking yourself behind a large tree for the second shot. Gan Hame, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 404 yards, provides a superb finishing hole, with an elevated tee shot to a fairway that features trees on both sides.
If you're going in winter, when the club sees fewer players, Niddry Castle Golf Club offers golf-and-coffee specials.

Hidden gem
I'd seen the course on golfnow on numerous occasions but had no idea where it actually was. I found it again when trying to find somewhere to play at short notice mand thought I'd give it a try. I'm delighted I did. The fact rst six holes were great fun and very quirky, before moving on to what I believe are the new holes which were definitely challenging. I can't remember much about the 18th as it was play in the dark time. Will definitely be back to try it again very soon.
Interesting holes
The course in general has some good holes but the routing is bizarre. Hitting over greens and tees to shared fairways seems mental, I’m glad I don’t play medals here as it seems quite dangerous when busy
Helpful staff
This was a really good course with some challenging holes. Difficult at times to find the next hole but local players point the way. Staff were really helpful and friendly prior to playing , explaining some holes and the route to take. Our football all enjoyed the game
Poor care
The greens and tees were in poor condition for this time of year. Patchy growth in lots of areas.
It is an interesting layout and would no doubt take a round or two to get to know the lines of approach.
Would I play it again, sorry no.
Lovely course!
Had not played Niddry Castle since it extended to 18 holes...cracking course...definitely worth a visit if in the
area...relaxed and friendly atmosphere...staff were very
helpful...members also...addition of 9 to 18 made this a
nice way to spend a few hours in April sunshine...looks quite straightforward but is a challenging course..no hills to
speak of but lots of lurking hazards...
Give it a go...
Many Thanks to all
Value for money
Though golf now got great deal
At to days squeeze on money.
Coarse was like my own private
One as only my self and my son
On coarce and Coarse was in great condition will play again
Worse course in West Lothian
Played this as a four ball on Sunday 8th May.
This is by far the worse course in West Lothian and not worth £2 let alone £20 per head.
Firstly, the greens were terrible and clearly they hadn’t been cut all week. It was like putting in a Persian rug and it’s obvious to us now why there was hardly anyone else on the course.
Secondly, after our round had finished at 18.30 the clubhouse was all shut up so we had nowhere to go for a bite to eat and a drink.
Could have played a much better course in the region for the same money and had a better experience. Would not recommend to anyone.
Not open
When getting to the course, the club clearly advertised the times we played before the club actually opened and was a gate locking entry to the course. Had to park on the street and walk up, 2 other tee off’s had to do the same.
When got there due to nothing being open we didn’t know the layout of the course with no assistance and as wasn’t open and no members about was very difficult to navigate for the first few holes.
When getting to the end of the round we weren’t made aware there was a shotgun start comp on and due to this the playing members wouldn’t allow us to play the 17th and 18th. This should have been advertised.
Not great experience as a visitor to say the least
