Rating 69.3

Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.

A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.

Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Wee Beauty!

This course is a little Gem! Very good condition and greens run quick. Couple dogleg bends which makes it more difficult, and the famous 16th hole was very cool. Totally worth the money for a round and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be back.

Lovely course. Rude members

Have played Pumpherston before. My friend and I are beginner golfers and have always chose courses to play that are friendly to beginners.

Course was lovely but on the 14th got shouted abuse at and sworn at by some local members as we both lost our drives in the trees and had to reload. Had a pretty good pace as we finished the round in 3 hours 20 which we thought wasnt bad.

Course, conditions, practice area and pro were all great. Experience Let down by the aggressive and unnecessarily rude local members.

Decent track with overly penal rough

Played the course with my son, brother and nephew. We all enjoyed it and it is in decent nick with good greens.

The only down side was the overly penal forest(!) just off the fairways. This is partly due to the nature of the course, however a number of balls were lost just a few inches off the beaten track. (Yes we should have kept it on the short stuff!).

Overall a good track and enjoyable test. Worth a visit.

Visit to Pumpherston with my son

We played a 2 person scramble which is normally what we do when visiting a course for first time. We were so impressed with absolutely everything, The layout and beautiful greens and overall condition put this place in same bracket as Dalmahoy, in fact I’d rate Pumpherston ahead.

The green keeping staff are obviously very talented. Fantastic track, great mix of different styles of holes. Superb 😀

Very good greens and layout

Pumpherston is a very nice, shorter course (par 70 -6036 yards) that has some really nice holes. The number two hole is an exciting dogleg over water to a sizeable green that demands accuracy off the tee and in to the green. The greens are in very good condition. Most par 4s are 350-400 yards and all three par 5s are on the back. Very nice golf course.

Amazing course

We booked this course, having been drawn in by the picturesque 16th hole as shown on the golf now page, and it did not disappoint, every hole was different and great challenge and the 16th is a truly unique little par 4!

Everyone was super friendly, including staff in the shop, and members we spoke to!

Course wasn’t too busy and greens were rolling nice too! Will definitely be back! 10/10 😃😃😃

Superb layout and value

This course offers great value. The layout is superb, I liked the fact it is on Edinburgh airports landing path as well. The young pro was super friendly and helpful warm up facilities were very good when considering the price of the round. Would definitely visit again at the green fee we paid.
