Kirriemuir Golf Club
About
Kirriemuir Golf Club, designed by James Braid, lies in the heart of Scotland's golfing country, 18 miles from Carnoustie and 35 miles from St. Andrews. No fewer than eight Open final qualifying golf courses are within a 45-minute drive.
Avenues of woods, gorse and broom surround lush, undulating fairways with greens that are impeccable and true. The views are inspiring, particularly from the fourth hole, with Lochnagar in the distance.
Like many of the great golf courses, Kirriemuir's best is reserved for the finish. The 17th, named Braid's Gem, is a 180-yard par-3 hole, with the green guarded by two majestic trees both left and right. No. 18 is a difficult par 4, uphill with a large oak tree blocking the right half of the fairway.
The par-68 heathland/parkland layout measures 5,518 yards from the back tees.

Fairly short course - no par fives
Very friendly and helpful staff. Course was in great condition especially for this time of year. Greens really good. Lots of nice holes. There was a group outing in front of us but we moved quite well. Would recommend a visit if in the area.
Cheap and cheerful
Resembled a typical pay and play course. Divots left by hackers, pitch marks left on greens etc. Not the easiest walk either, it might be a short walk but there are plenty of notable climbs and it was a tiring stroll. Staff were very friendly and the greens, pitch marks withstanding, were a bit nippy. The way I played (awfully) didn’t fill my happy bag so I don’t want to be too negative. It’s ok, it’s cheap, you get what you pay for.
Lovely Views and Friendly Members
Self and wife and a great day at this fabulous old school golf course. The reception we got from the members was great and the views were outstanding. A great day out.
First timers
Beautiful late sunny summer day, little breeze- course in really good condition and greens also impressive- a real bargain for the cost and We d be very happy to return again ( didn't have time to call in the clubhouse afterwards)
Wonderful Kirriemuir
The course is in excellent condition with wonderful greens and a beautiful setting. A wonderful golfing experience.
Kirriemuir G.C.
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Course was in excellent condition. Stiff breeze which made scoring difficult. Staff in clubhouse very helpful. I would be happy to recommend the course to anyone.
Enjoyable, as usual
Played on a rather damp day but as usual we thought the course was very good. Greens not as good as at home but there maybe a reason for this. Views. Due to staff shortages they couldn't accommodate us for a meal afterwards which was a pity as we do like to support the clubs we play by eating there after our game.
Hidden gem,
Intimidating 1st and 3rd if you have a slice. But the course was in fantastic condition. It was windy when we played so the wind made you think a wee bit more about the shot you needed to play. Would definitely play again.
Good little course
Great wee course... not the longest but real thought required in shot selection and fairway placement... Would have gave 5* for conditions but the fairways hadn't been cut in a day or 2 I think. this caused problems for my partner who is a beginner and the lost yardage made the course more difficult than it needed to be.
Tricky little parkland
The course is short and even shorter if you don't know the yellow tees are shorter than the reds for some obscure reason
The course appears deceptively simple but various slopes and bunkers can easily add to your round total.
Beautiful location with great views of the hills.
Greens in very good condition.
Kirriemuir Takes The Cake
Excellent conditions, superb fairways with really true, fast greens. Superb catering too.
Great little course
some interesting holes... greens like carpets.. really fast and true .... only negative was having to play off mats on the short par 3's . A decent challenge for any handicap I would say ... High handicappers will struggle to keep the ball on the green on approach shots... top tip.. where possible pitch short and let the ball run on.
Good once again
This is the 5 th time I’ve played Kirriemuir, this time with 2 who’d never played it. They thoroughly enjoyed it so I’ll be back sometime for sure.
